Title:Statistical Engineer - OIH
Location: Beijing, China
The Inventory Planning and Control (IPC) group is seeking a passionate, talented, and inventive statistician to help with the design, analysis and reporting of inventory management effectiveness research. We develop innovative strategies to optimize inventory management and deliver the best convenience and lower prices for the customer.
This position will bring analytical rigor and statistical methods to the challenges of measuring inventory management effectiveness, looking into problems such as how to optimize both our inventory holdings and our in stock performance, how to measure what is a goden line for healthy and unhealthy inventory. The successful candidate will be a person who enjoys and excels at diving into data to analyze root causes and implement long term solutions - changes in business policy or processes, updates to the models in our systems, creation of effective metrics and functionality. You will help research a broad range of inventory management effectiveness metrics including inventory healthy, in stock performance, and inventory returns. The goal is to improve the customer experience through improved selection, product availability, and fulfillment reliability while enhancing profitability. This high visibility role requires partnering with Retail, Finance and Operations teams to impact our bottom-line.
This includes
? Providing business analysis using mathematical modeling tools to answer important questions for IPC
? Partnering closely with many groups such as operations, IT, retail, and finance teams to support various business initiatives
? Effectively communicating with senior management as well as with colleagues from computer science, operations research, and business backgrounds.
? Utilizing outstanding problem solving and analytical skills
? Research and develop methods for measuring and analyzing inventory management effectiveness.
? Research new algorithms and methods for optimizing inventory holdings.
Design experiments to answer targeted questions.
Basic Qualifications
? Master's degree in Statistics and 3+ years of related work experience
? Advanced SQL knowledge
? Advanced skills in a broad range of statistical techniques including experimental design, hypothesis testing, and multivariate regression.
? Advanced skill in R, Stata or other commonly used statistical software
? Experience utilizing problem solving and analytical skills
Preferred Qualifications
? PhD or MBA in Statistics preferred
? Technical aptitude and familiarity with the design and use of complex logistics software systems
? Project management experience desired for working on cross-functional projects
? Familiarity with inventory planning concepts - forecasting, planning, optimization, and logistics - gained through work experience or graduate level education
? Excellent written and verbal communication skills both in English and Chinese
