Role Description:
Join Microsoft Asia-Pacific R&D finance for a fun and challenging position as a financial analyst based in Shenzhen, China. This position is responsible for all R&D financial matters for the Microsoft Asia Center for Hardware (MACH). This position provides local finance support for financial planning and strategy, budgeting, forecasting, compliance, and financial reporting and analysis. This is a great opportunity in which to partner with key Microsoft R&D operations as well as local and international finance teams. It is also an opportunity to demonstrate financial leadership that has a significant impact for Microsoft.
Key Job Elements:
- Work closely with local business partners and headquarters finance teams to plan for each fiscal year and complete the annual budget process for all in-scope groups.
- Provide financial support in a timely and accurate manner including addressing accounting issues and closing the books each month, managing and communicating risks and opportunities, and performing strategy analysis and making recommendations that help business partners achieve their financial commitments.
- Produce accurate and timely monthly financial reports that highlight key results, insights, and action items.
- Perform analysis of monthly financial results and lead finance review meetings with business partners.
- Develop financial forecasts each quarter for each business by working closely with local business partners and headquarters finance teams in Redmond.
- Work with direct manager to provide executive overviews of financial results for quarterly CFO close reviews and for the Asia R&D leadership team.
- Ensure compliance with local accounting policies as well as broader Microsoft policies and GAAP.
- Complete ad-hoc assignments based on business needs.
This position will have frequent contact with all levels of Microsoft managers and employees in a variety of cultural and business environments. Because this position requires extensive interaction with a variety of groups in Asia and other international locations, strong English-speaking and writing skills are required. Excellent cross-border organizational, interpersonal, and presentation skills are also required. Past experience or a strong demonstrable ability to apply these skills and operate in overseas environments is a must. While some support will be provided, a successful candidate will need to demonstrate integrity, discipline, and the ability to show initiative, work to deadlines, take responsibility, continuously improve, be a team player, and work independently as required by the nature of the work as well as the geographic location.
The Person:
The ideal candidate will be a graduate with a degree in accounting or finance with strong experience in financial planning and analysis in a multinational environment. Additional business experience using finance tools is a plus. Geographic flexibility both within China and internationally and willingness to travel to Beijing and Redmond, Washington as required is preferred. Professional finance and accounting certifications are also preferred.
