Due to our phenomenal success, Welocalize offers a dynamic environment with lots of opportunity for growth. We currently have a very exciting opportunity for a Lead Translator to join our Simplified Chinese Group.

We are looking for a technically knowledgeable, resourceful, and creative person to take responsibility for all the translations, reviews and quality control for a leading provider of networking solutions. The right candidate will be highly comfortable with telecommunication, virtualization, data center, automation content, etc., both for software and hardware translations and review.

The chosen candidate will also be highly skilled in technical documentation related to the above subject expertise.

This Lead Translator's primary purpose is to ensure that the expected level of translation quality is secured and the product delivered to the client is fit for purpose at all times.

Major responsibilities will include:

? Perform on demand and planned translation, review, and quality control tasks related to the product dealing with jobs of a transactional nature
? When additional resources are required to deal with larger volumes within deadlines, coordinate the activities of a small team of translators and take ownership of the overall quality output of the group
? Centralize product expertise and knowledge according to customer expectations and act as key product point of contact in Simplified Chinese within Welocalize
? Tailor best language practices to meet customer-specific requirements with a view to improve efficiency, productivity, quality and customer service
? Monitor quality metrics, customer feedback and vendor performance
? Analyze client negative feedback and assist with remedial action plans
? Communicate with client reviewer and update client feedback documentation
? Inform the Project Manager of progress status as required and show initiative to solve quality and deadline issues in a timely manner
? Manage and maintain the language assets (including glossaries and TMs) up to the quality standards as required
? Manage product-related queries
? Test and qualify new resources as required
? Train and support new staff and vendors according to needs of the account.
? Advise on resource selection upon request, taking into account previous experience and short-term and long-term needs
? Achieve the goals set by the Language Delivery Manager and the global account team


EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

4 year University degree in Computer Sciences or equivalent and/or Translation; or five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

REQUIRED SKILLS

? Native-speaker of Simplified Chinese and fluent in English, both written and spoken.
? Extensive experience in localization (> 2 years) and proven track record as Language Specialist, technical translator, or equivalent.
? Strong knowledge of the following subject matters: networks, telecommunication, IP telephony, automation, data centers, virtualization, etc.
? Demonstrable experience in localizing online technical English material with results that create a satisfactory Simplified Chinese user experience
? Excellent user knowledge of Translation Memory tools and Translation Management Systems (TMS). A good understanding of Machine Translation (MT) engines and MT Post-editing, (processes, tools, schedule and budget impact) is a plus.
