Job Description

As a member of a globally distributed team, the Microsoft Systems and Virtualization Engineer is responsible for supporting Tenneco’s global Windows Server and VMWARE based infrastructure both in the central datacenter and on remote sites, primarily supporting the Asia Pacific region. Responsibilities include the support of hardware, operating system, virtualization and infrastructure applications like Active Directory as well as the implementation of new infrastructure solutions. The engineer is working together closely with other team members in the US, Spain and Germany.

Major technologies supported by the team include Microsoft technologies like Active Directory, SCCM, Office365 and Azure, virtualization technologies like VMWARE, Hyper-V and Citrix as well as backup systems and server hardware. The environment continues to change and develop with the addition of new technologies.

Responsibilities:

Provides Tier 2 and Tier 3 support for Windows servers (physical/virtual)

Provides Tier 2 support for VMWARE

Installs and configures Windows servers (physical/virtual) and VMWARE solutions

Troubleshoots system, network and infrastructure application problems

Performs operational tasks and troubleshoots issues in Active Directory

Performs operational tasks and troubleshoots issues in Office365/Azure

Provides backup and restore services for Windows servers

Uses scripting to automate processes

Coordinates and implements changes

Participates in infrastructure projects

Collaborates and interacts closely with other IS groups in Tenneco

Participates in on-call support rotation to assist with troubleshooting, escalation and recovery

Requirements:

Experienced in managing 300+ Windows servers

Extensive Microsoft operating system and network troubleshooting skills are essential

Working knowledge with VMWARE version 6 or higher (troubleshooting and installation)

Detailed understanding of network protocols like DHCP and DNS

Working knowledge of Microsoft operating systems as well as Active Directory

Working knowledge of Office365/Teams is a plus

Working knowledge of Service Now Ticketing System in a plus

Working knowledge of hardware concepts

Ability to create technical documentation in English

Ability to communicate effectively with technical staff and end-users

Strong interpersonal skills

Highly self-motivated and directed as well as creative

Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative global environment

Good organizational skills with ability to prioritize workload

Strong inter-personal skills, presentation and communication skills essential

Being fluent in the English language is essential

Education & Experience:

Bachelor or Master of science, preferably computer science

4+ years experience in a complex Microsoft network environment

Microsoft server or infrastructure certification is a plus
