Summary:


The U.S. Mission in Beijing is seeking one eligible and qualified applicant for the position of Security Investigator.






The work schedule for this position is: Full Time (40 hours per week)


Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.

Duties:


At the direction of the Olympic Security Coordination (OSC) Office, the Security Investigator conducts site advances and security surveys of all Olympic venues, training facilities, hotels and other locations that will be utilized by the U.S. Government and U.S. Olympic delegation. The Security Investigator attends law enforcement and security meetings in support of the OSC. The Security Investigator will be a liaison between the OSC and all Chinese security and Olympic planning personnel. Establishes and maintains detailed notes on contacts and meetings held in preparation for the Olympic Games. Monitors local media for relevant threat information, which may affect Olympic security for the 2022 Beijing Olympic, and Paralympic Winter Games.






Qualifications and Evaluations




Education:


Completion of college or universities is required.


Requirements:




EXPERIENCE:


A minimum of 3 years of experience in investigative work in a government organization or a private sector, or a position that involves gathering, evaluation and interpretation of facts.






JOB KNOWLEDGE:


Must be knowledgeable of diplomatic security procedures and logistics. Must know and understand investigative techniques. Must have knowledge of local laws governing criminal statutes, weapons, privacy protection and police procedures.

LANGUAGE:


Level IV (Fluent) speaking/reading/writing in English is required. (This will be tested.)


Level IV (Fluent) speaking/reading/writing in Chinese is required.










SKILLS AND ABILITIES:


Must be able to establish and maintain contacts in the Chinese law enforcement community including security and intelligence personnel as appropriate. Must possess sound judgement to be able to analyze and interpret information and report in a concise and objective manner. Must possess basic computer skills, (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and a valid Chinese driver’s license with no criminal history in any jurisdiction. Must be able to translate from Chinese to English and vice versa.


Must have held a valid driver’s license for minimum of 5 years.






Qualifications:


All applicants under consideration will be required to pass medical and security certifications.

The certification letter should be on letterhead of the appropriate military branch of the service and contain (1) the military service dates including the expected discharge or release date; and (2) the character of service.
