Position Description:
• This position will be responsible for key system performance benchmark analysis and optimization work. The engineer will work under Freescale Linux R&D team in Beijing.
• Benchmark Freescale and competitor developed devices.
• Benchmark compilers, operating systems, middlewares, and applications software
• Adapt, run, create industry standard benchmarks
• Analyze benchmarking results and make recommendations for performance and power improvements
• Work closely with other teams (Systems team, Application team, etc) to perform necessary benchmark activities.
• Drive necessary alignment and process improvements into the benchmarking activities.
• Develop necessary recording and reporting structures for all benchmarking activities.
Qualifications
:
- Minimum of 3-6 years of embedded systems programming using Linux or UNIX operating systems
- Strong knowledge in embedded system programming, Linux kernel, device driver and toolchain.
- Strong program skills in C/C++ and assembly language. Familiar with Git source code management tool.
- Requires knowledge of embedded, deeply pipelined CPUs/DSPs, system on chip designs, and subsystem software and hardware.
- Requires experience benchmarking application software and operating systems on embedded targets.
- Experience analyzing performance bottlenecks of CPUs and other system hardware blocks.
- Experience with industry-recognized benchmark suites (e.g., EEMBC, SPEC, etc.) and desktop and multimedia applications.
- Familiarity with the use of performance analysis tools, profilign & tracing, etc.
- Experience with the PA and ARM architecture
- Understanding of influence compiler/assembler code optimization/generation has on CPU performance.
- Embedded software development using C, C++ and assembly, performance analysis, simulators, emulators.
