This is a R&D Sr. Mechanical Engineer, reporting to the R&D Team Manager in Business Area – Motion located in Beijing, China.

- Leading “DFX” theory (Design for Automation, Assembly, Manufactory, etc.) in NPD projects, guiding design engineers and reviewing the product design from DFX point of view.
- Participating in NPD project design team and taking detail structural development.
- Supporting product engineering with volume production units’ modification to fulfill automation manufactory needs.
- Supporting production teams to design and improve automatic production line, optimizing layout design including robot, fixture, automation control etc.
- Playing as one of contact interface with EMS factory and supporting to optimize the production in automation.
- Living ABB’s core values of safety and integrity, which means taking responsibility for your own actions while caring for your colleagues and the business.

- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, mechanical, material, automation, electrical, or equivalent field.
- Must have 3+ years of experience in production plants or system integrators with specific knowledge in automation production and management of complex machines.
- Must have 3+ years of experience on complex devices product design in structural field and solid experience of automatic equipment design/handling, preferably in industrial segment, DFX practice, CAD tool (PRO-E preferably) and fixture/jig design and/or manufactory.
- Must be creative, good at multi-tasking, self-motivated and self-maintained.
- Fluency in English both written and spoken.
- Must be available for business travel mainly domestic, yearly traveling time is about 10% in total.
- Good to have knowledge of the main mechanical, electrical, software, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, robot handling and automation control, design criteria FMEA/FMECA, DFX tools and production line layout simulation and production quality including assembly, manufactory, testing etc.
