This is an R&D Mechanical Engineer role reporting to the R&D / Technology Manager in the Business - Industrial Automation, Measurement & Analytics located in Shanghai, China.

- Getting involved in the product (instrumentation) development for mechanical design, sample build and verification testing.
- Designing tests to verify the design meet the technical requirements.
- Getting involved in mechanical related work e.g material selection, mechanical stability and strength etc.
- Getting involved in the pilot run of the parts at supplier side and trial run at ABB factory for the product.
- Living ABB’s core values of safety and integrity, which means taking responsibility for your own actions while caring for your colleagues and the business.

- Must have a BS in mechanical engineering with minimum 5 years’ experience or MSc in mechanical engineering with minimum 2 years’ experience in R&D
- Should be familiar with the commonly used engineering materials and related manufacturing / processing.
- Should be familiar with design validation procedure of new product.
- Know the relationship of standards and products, and drafting verification program according to standards.
- Must be proficient in CAD, e.g. AutoCAD, UG or Pro-E, and MS office.
- Capability of reading and express technical solutions in English, having good communication and teamwork skills and ability to work independently are preferred.
- Foreign enterprises R&D experience is preferred.
