We’re looking for a motivated software engineer to join the Autodesk Translation Framework team (ATF) to help develop and maintain the core components that enable world class data translation capabilities in all of Autodesk’s major products.  Our engineering culture will empower you to make effective decisions, work collaboratively, and take accountability for the overall quality of software development projects at the core of the company. As a Software Engineer on this team, you will have the opportunity to work closely with team members in the US, Canada and UK to ensure excellent quality data translation component deliveries by applying strong software testing and development skills.

Responsibilities

·       Design and implement test systems and strategies with an objective to find and prevent defects during the software development cycle and assure quality of data translators for Autodesk products including Inventor, AutoCAD, Alias Studio, Fusion 360, 3ds Max, Maya, Revit, BIM360 and cloud services. 

·       Leverage your quality assurance mindset and validate functionality, stability, compatibility, performance and bring customer perspective to the development process to ensure goals are met for key translator components for CAD/CAE/Construction applications that exchange data to and from various file formats including DGN, IFC, STEP, IGES, NX, CATIA, SolidWorks, Sketchup and more.

·       Understand the customer workflows and support the requirements from clients through strong knowledge of the construction industry

·       Design, create and execute comprehensive test plans and analyze test results

·       Clearly document, manage, and prioritize tasks as well as collaborate with product support and customers to resolve customer issues

·       Collaborate with product owners, scrum masters and engineers to evaluate delivery risk, and/or stability of products and services

·       Actively participate in team meetings and practice Agile mindset throughout the software development lifecycle

Minimum Qualifications

·       Bachelor’s degree or higher in Construction or Civil or Mechanical Engineering or Computer Science or similar experience

·       Experience with at least one construction design application or one mechanical CAD application

·       3+ year experience on coding and scripting skills in languages like C++, Python to develop automated test systems

·       Understanding of 3d design and data translation workflows

·       Knowledge and experience designing tests, defining test scope and identifying functional and non-functional testing (e.g. performance, availability, stability, security, environment, etc.), creating unit test frameworks and automated regressions tests

·       Experience with testing tools and testing processes in product release cycles

·       Strong verbal and written communication skills in English

·       Keen eye for detail, meticulous and analytically minded

Preferred Qualifications

·       Experience with construction design products such as Revit, BIM360…

·       Experience with cloud services

·       Expertise using one or more CAD systems including Autodesk Products, or other applications such as Solidworks, SolidEdge, NX, CATIA, Creo, Rhino, Sketchup, etc.

·       Experience with using one or more file formats such as IFC, DGN, JT, IGES, STEP, QIF, glTF, USD, 3MF, STL, OBJ.
