ABB's Robotics and Discrete Automation business is writing the future of flexible factory and smart machines by providing value-added solutions in robotics, machine and factory automation. You will contribute to the design and development of embedded software in ABB robot systems. These systems are used for communication, control, sensing and interaction with human in industrial environment. You will be fully integrated into agile development process. This is a R&D Engineer role, reporting to the R&D Project Manager in Business Area – Robotics and Discrete Automation located in Shanghai, China. Your role and responsibilities are defined by both needs in your expertise and the team backlog according to business priorities.

- Writing well structured, testable, efficient and maintainable code.
- Building platform (embedded Linux, VxWorks) for robot control system.
- Supporting robot application software development.
- Doing board startup, hardware validation and full system integration.
- Analyzing and enhancing efficiency, stability and scalability of system resources.
- Developing software tests and continuous integration.
- Doing documentation of software design and products.
- Living ABB’s core values of safety and integrity, which means taking responsibility for your own actions while caring for your colleagues and the business.

- MS degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science and Technology, or equivalent degree with necessary expertise in the mentioned areas.
- Must have 3+ years of experience in software/firmware development and 2+ years of experience of Embedded Linux.
- Must have experience in developing device drivers and excellent C/C++ coding, strong building, debugging and testing skills.
- Fluency in professional communication in English.
- Must have Ability of problem solving, time management, teamwork skills, positive attitude to work, engagement in the tasks and result orientated.
- Must have experience with RTOS/VxWorks or bare-metal embedded development, Xilinx Zynq/Ultrascale+ and knowledge of industry robot system python is a plus.
