We are looking for candidates for the position of R&D Scientist to perform research in the field of materials and material processing, including additive manufacturing. You will be part of the Hitachi ABB Power Grids Research team to develop cutting edge material technologies for transmission and distribution products.

- Conduct R&D work in the direction of innovative composite materials, insulation materials, thermal management materials, new processing technologies, and additive manufacturing. Deliver technology for Hitachi ABB Power Grid's next generation of products.
- Communicate with business lines to clarify market expectations.
- Investigate technical feasibility and develop new technical solutions in the lab. Collaborate and support all Hitachi ABB Power Grids business lines.
- Living core values of safety and integrity, which means taking responsibility for your own actions while caring for your colleagues and the business.

- A PhD in materials science, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, chemistry or a related field.
- Experience in one of the following areas is a strong plus: mechanical engineering/additive manufacturing, metals, battery chemistry, CFD simulation, computational chemistry, data analytics, AI/ML.
- Solid knowledge background and project execution experience.
- Capable to run projects independently with excellent project planning, execution and management.
- Outstanding communication skills, task ownership, and analytical capabilities.
- Fluent spoken and written English as working language.
