GLOBAL MES ARCHITECT

Aim and purpose of this position

(short summary)

The main purpose of this position is to lead the RHIM global Master MES solution architect design, development, maintenance, upgrade and optimize per business requirements and IT technology upheaval, that are:

?             appropriate for the business process requirements (functionality)

?             easy to use (usability)

?             well integrated in the company’s IT environment (interfaces, infrastructure)

?             working as expected (reliability)

?             available continuously (continuity)

?             minimizing the required resources (efficiency)

The main tasks are to design, build, configure, operate and maintain MES solution which is based on independent platform.

You like to

-              join a small team of highly skilled software engineers,

-              develop, customize, document, support, rollout a mainly internally created MES solution and independent platform which will fit our shop floor business innovation and be our foundation of digitalization transformation

-              work within a global network and in a multicultural environment

 

 

1.         Tasks and responsibilities

 

1.1. Functional and operational tasks

(daily business tasks, routine tasks and interfaces to other departments, if not included in point 1.2/1.3)          60%

 (time in 60% for 1.1)

Business Analysis           

  • Target:

?             Analyze the shop floor requirement and come out system functionality and micro-service design requirements, which will be implemented by project team

  • Input:

?             Business requirements

?             Pain points

  • Output:

?             System functionality requirement specification

?             Architect optimization design

Design 

  • Target:

?             adequate and efficient design of MES software, architecture, data storage and interfaces

  • Input:

?             requirement specifications (information/data, dataflow, functions)

?             interface specifications

?             user interface specifications

?             software applications available on the market

  • Design:

?             design of implementable technical architecture

  • Output:

?             data / software / interface architecture

?             solution specifications

Build/Configure

  • Target:

?             adequate and efficient implementation of MES software, architecture, data storage and interfaces

  • Input:

?             solution specifications

?             data / software / interface architecture

  • Build/Configure:

?             build data structures, functions and interfaces

?             technically configure software

?             implement in specified environment

?             perform technical tests

  • Output:

?             software ready to use

?             technical software documentation

Operate/Support            

  • Target: 

?             enable and ensure continuous and reliable MES platform and shared micro-service and support BA team to quickly solve MES system issues

  • Input:

?             operational MES software and its environment

?             incidents (user issue, feature request, software problem, etc.)

?             new business requirements

?             new IT requirements for stability, extension and quick response for business innovation 

  • Operate/Support:

?             analyze incidents related to MES platform and shared micro-service

?             support Business Application team to quickly support users (1st, 2nd, 3rd level support)

?             document problem or platform feature request as a service message

?             technical capacity mgmt.

  • Output:

?             knowledge base for MES platform and shared micro-service for production, quality, maintenance, etc.

?             solved incident or documented problem or feature request

Maintain            

  • Target:

?             appropriately up-to-date and efficient MES platform and shared micro-service

  • Input:

?             information about updates and bug fixes

?             software performance indicators

  • Maintain:

?             plan, test, and implement MES platform and micro-service updates and bug fixes

  • Output:

?             appropriate and efficient MES platform and shared micro-service

Administrative tasks     

?             continuing education in own areas of expertise

?             collect efforts (CATS)

?             initiate/attend necessary coordination

?             regular IT/MES knowledge share

Mobility             

?             Be able to travel international and domestic (~50% travel)

 

1.2 Control - and Coordination tasks

(e.g. project mgmt., coord. of workgroups/quality circles, legal entity mgmt-tasks etc.)   

 (time in 20 % for 1.2)

Project Mgmt.   ?             management of medium/large scale projects

Module Lead      ?             functional/technical coordination for MES

Supplier Mgmt. ?             coordination of external service providers and suppliers within own area of expertise

1.3 Leadership- and Management tasks

(time in 20 % for 1.3)

Leadership tasks              

?             Lead the cross functional internal/external team members to upgrade and optimize the independent MES platform per new IT technology and DevOps method

?             Co-work with BA team and external MES vendor to maintain and iterate shared micro-service to be able to quick response the business new change requirements and innovation

Requirement profile of the position

2.1 Professional Experience

  • high level of experience in design and development of commercial/customized industrial software platform

  • high level of experience in agile, or DevOps, or XP, or SCRUM during commercial/customized industrial software life cycle engineering

  • high level of expertise in design and development of solutions in business applications for manufacturing execution

  • high level of expertise in design and development of solutions in business applications for production planning

  • high level of expertise in related processes or industry sectors

2.2 Education

  • bachelor/master’s degree major in Automation, Software Engineering, information mgmt. or appropriate specific long-term experience

  • business application production specific education (with certificates)

  • PMP certificate

2.3 Functional Knowledge

  • high technical configuration/customizing knowledge for application SAP-MII (manufacturing integration systems), Rockwell MES, Siemens MES, or similar MES vendors

  • medium/high programming knowledge in SQL, XML, HTML and Java Script

  • medium/high programming knowledge in Crystal Reports, Java

  • medium/high programming knowledge in mobile applications

  • medium/high knowledge in interfaces to control systems (OPC based)

  • medium/high knowledge in AI software, machine learning, AR/VR technology

  • advanced knowledge in software design, development and testing methods

  • medium/high knowledge in project management

  • basic/advanced knowledge in IT architecture management

  • basic/advanced knowledge in IT risk management

  • basic knowledge of business process management methods

IT user skills

  • advanced knowledge in Office applications (e.g. Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, etc.)

  • basic knowledge in operation systems (Microsoft Windows, Linux) 

  • basic knowledge in IT tools (e.g. programming environment, software version mgmt., database design tools, ticketing tools, software transportation tools, document management system, etc.)
