Position: Environmental Management Governance

Location: Beijing

Scope, objective and relevance of position:

• Support effective, functioning and compliance-oriented environment management for 100% VW entities and JVs in China from production side

• Support for development of the China regional environmental strategy based on VW Group Strategy and responsible of implementation within 100% VW entities and JVs from production side.

• Tracking and support to ensure the functioning operational environmental protection work at all production sites of Volkswagen Group China.

• Ensure VCIC compliance with environmental obligations including PRC laws, regulations, and standards; Conditions derived from approvals, permits and licenses; Requirements from Volkswagen Group, Brands and Volkswagen Group China; Self-commitments (Volkswagen Group, Brands, Volkswagen Group China and entities/JVs);

• Support of Establishment and maintenance of a “network of environmental experts” for information exchange within Volkswagen Group China.

• Representation of interest of Volkswagen Group China within Volkswagen Group and against Chinese authorities on production-related environmental topics.

• Report the environmental performance of production side in the form of a monthly review to the department leader/ environment officer and headquarter.

Key Tasks:

Environmental strategy(e.g., Go to Zero, decarbonization):

• Support Development of a production-related environmental strategy of region China based on Group Strategy

• Support of Implement and Tracking the effectiveness of the measures to achieve the strategic objectives by use of the KPI-based system.

• Internal and external benchmarking

Production entities environmental compliance:

• Support VW 100% entities and JVs regarding their environmental performance

• Environmental risk identification and countermeasure development and implementation to ensure environmental protection;

• Environmental obligation tracking and compliance status evaluation, environmental training, environmental audits

• report environmental performance data from production-entities

• Support Rollout of Audit

• Escalate significant non-compliance matter of production entities to department leader and/or Volkswagen Group on a needed basis

• Coordination with all production entities to ensure a functioning Corporate environmental protection process (e.g., through the once-per-month Jour Fix)

Environmental requirements:

• Tracking the changes of environmental laws and regulations.

• Impact assessment support on the production sites of Volkswagen Group China.

• Inform the affected plant leader, department managers and environmental officers.

• Involve the central department of Volkswagen Group in case of changes with serious impact.

Operational environmental protection work:

• Organization of production-related environmental protection work in cooperation with production sites by establishing and verifying compliance with internal regulations (environmental / energy standards based on the principles of environmental production).

• Instigate environmental measures at the production sites and support the implementation.

• Encourage financial resources for environmental protection measures in the budgets of production entities.

Network:

• Support of Establishment of a network of environmental experts from all production sites.

• Support of Organization of regular meetings for the “Best-Practice”-oriented information exchange between the representatives of all production sites.

• Development of joint approaches and standpoints within Volkswagen Group China on environmentally relevant topics.

Representation of interest:

• Represent the interest of Volkswagen Group China and the production sites in the group internal meetings and committees.

• Represent the interest of Volkswagen Group within Volkswagen Group China

• Represent the interest of Volkswagen Group China against authorities on environmental issues with production relevance.

Qualification and skills:

• University degree with technical background

• A professional experience in the field of environmental protection

• Ideally with knowledge of ISO 14001

• Preferably with environmental auditor qualification

• Independent working ability

• Integrative, cooperative and team-oriented way of working

• Intercultural openness

• Communication skills
