JD for HR Director

Reporting to Managing Director based in HK

Direct Reports 4 (HRM in HK; HRM, Talent Acquisition Manager, Learning & Development Manager in Shanghai); he/she will be leading a HR Team of total 10 headcounts

Peers: Part of the leadership team with 2 Business Partners (Operations and Sales) + 3 Services Managers; additionally, cooperating with 2 Equity Partners in our spinoffs

Summary:

As part of the 6-person senior leadership team, the HRD is responsible for the strategic function of HR as part of the firm’s overall strategy. This includes driving changes in organisational structure, and developing team leadership and corporate culture to support our goals. The ideal candidate will be a creative generalist with deep commercial understanding combined with a passion for the team’s growth.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Drive strategic and organisational transformation together with MD and peers, mainly by designing and implementing a modern HR structure
  • Add measurable value to the business by combining HR with commercial expertise
  • As trusted business partner, advise peers on HR services and technology in order to boost productivity across the organisation through digitisation
  • Coach peers and managers on effective people planning and management
  • Retain talent and increase performance through career development programmes
  • Drive employee engagement via effective programmes
  • Foster a learning and caring culture in all teams and offices
  • Increase effective talent acquisition through employer branding and pipeline activities
  • Continuously “take the pulse” of the organisation through formal and informal feedback; manage issues independently and pro-actively
  • Oversee HR-related budgets including firm-wide remuneration

Skills & Experience:

  • At least 10 years generalist experience with professional service or consulting firms
  • Proven success in proactively recommending change; pragmatic ability to bring about results; able to anticipate and counter challenges or resistance
  • People-focused with caring nature; passionate about creating optimal working environments
  • Lead by example through excellent analytical and project planning skills, and ability to lead effectively under pressure
  • In-depth knowledge of HK and China employment laws combined with market best-practices
  • Solid HRBP experience in medium to large firm, with high level of cross-cultural exposure
  • Excellent command of both spoken and written English and Chinese
  • Degree holder; MBA preferred
