Medtronic Technology Center is the largest R&D center in addition to the one of Medtronic in the U.S., which is also one of the largest R&D centers in the medical technology industry in China. Since its establishment eight years ago, Medtronic China R&D Center has developed 50 innovative products, covering surgical technology and products, emerging technologies, respiratory and monitoring solutions, vascular treatment protocols, specialist treatments and diabetes solutions. Among which, 28 have been successfully marketed in China and 18 have been exported to overseas markets.

A Day in the Life

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

• Design and redesign medium to high complexity medical devices and systems.
• Collaborate with internal marketing and clinical experts to explore market unmet needs, lead to generate product design concept.
• Promotes use of new technologies and industry-leading trends to product development activities.
• Direct those involved in the design, modification, and evaluation of all phases of a specific product or group of products, from product definition through production and release (i.e., Product Lifecycle Management).
• Functions as the central resource with design, manufacturing, quality and test, and marketing as the product(s) move to completion and distribution.
• Interface with product manager to translate customer needs to product requirement.
• Work out system architecture, determine the system level specifications and lead the execution on requirement flow down; Manage the requirement traceability according to the requirement structure
• Lead the discussion and maintain the DFMEA; Work with risk manager based on medical device risk management procedure and regulatory.
• Cowork with technical lead to conduct the feasibility study, execute the concept engineering and continuously assess the technical maturity along with the design and development phases.
• Interface with global stakeholders and expert, host technical review and/or regular meeting.
• Work closely with cross-function team, including design reviews with QA, RA, test engineers, hardware engineers to ensure project goes smoothly.
• Ensure that products meet specifications and system reliability goals.
• Be creative and innovative in the product development process.
• Engage internal team and external stakeholders to drive project moving forward.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

• System Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent discipline required.
• Master degree preferred.
• 10+ years product design and development experience.
• Medical Devices industry experience is a must
• Strong technical background in medical device development area.
• Ability to design reliable and innovative systems, familiar with other disciplines such as Mechanical, Materials, Manufacturing process.
• Hands-on experience in detail design.
• Knowledge in Regulatory, Clinical and QMS process and requirements.
• Understanding in business case, basic financial knowledge.
• Logical thinking, problem solving and analytical skills.
• Result focus
• High quality standard and attention to details.
• Knowledge sharing and strong team work.
• Proactive and highly self-motivated.
• Excellent skills in verbal and written English communication. Able to work in global collaborating environment with intensive challenges.
• Excellent presentation skill.

Nice to Have

·         ASEP or CSEP certificated by INOSE, or

·         PMP certificated by PMI, or

·         CSSBB certificated by ASQ, or

·         NPDP certificated by PDMA
