The Industry Consultant - Global Powertrain is responsible for increasing sales of Rockwell Automation in the automotive industry globally, with his/her primary focus on the Global Powertrain ‘definition of winning’ target accounts that are aligned with Enterprise Accounts. Furthermore, the Industry Consultant will assist geographic sales in opportunistic account and project pursuit within the Global Powertrain ecosystem and within the broader industry.

The Industry Consultant – Global Powertrain is expected to have a full understanding of current customer business drivers, ICE & EV Drivetrain domain expertise, knowledge of resulting value propositions and applications, and develop key industry executive and industry analyst relationships.

The Industry Consultant – Global Powertrain is required to facilitate disciplined sales processes and drive sales strategies and execution at the key ‘definition of winning’ eco-system accounts that have been identified as within the eco-system of Enterprise Accounts, and also to help lead similar activity in the broader automotive industry.

The Industry Consultant - Global Powertrain is responsible for assessing industry application needs and challenges and in concert with the industry marketing team in order to drive development of and promotion of industry solutions.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop and lead the Software (MES, Analytics, PTC, AR, VR) Sales and Business Development strategy and efforts at ‘Definition of Winning’ Global Powertrain (EV, Battery, Hydrogen, ICE) Accounts and Enterprise Accounts in all regions.
  • Develop and lead Software Sales (MES, Analytics, PTC, AR, VR) training programs for Geographic Sales and Enterprise Account sales teams tied to Global Powertrain (EV, Battery, Hydrogen, ICE) programs and pursuits in all regions.
  • Lead, mentor, and hold accountable account managers assigned to the ‘definition of winning’ Global Powertrain target accounts in the automotive industry, assisting with sales strategy and execution, extended team development, performance reporting and relationship development.
  • Work closely with other Auto & Tire Global BDMs and Industry Consultants on industry strategy, Enterprise Account strategy and execution, data reporting, solution development and roll-out, BSR development and presentation, and industry events.
  • In participation with Industry and/or regional marketing, participate in the effort to elevate Rockwell Automation visibility within the Global Powertrain industry through participation in industry-oriented professional organizations, trade press, shows, and conferences.

Industry Consultant - Global Powertrain

  • In conjunction with Industry and/or regional marketing, organize and host events for the Global Powertrain customers, i.e., roundtables, field seminars, forums, summits, etc.
  • Contribute to on-going training for Geographic Sales and Enterprise Account Sales teams in coordination with Sales Enablement.
  • Analyze trends and strategies of competitors, for inclusion in BSR and feedback to BU and Sales leadership.
  • Drive Rockwell Automation and third-party resources to position products to fulfill specific customer needs and close orders.
  • Advises senior management on future developments and recommended strategies based upon emerging trends in the industry.
  • Develop account relationships at a senior level, also engaging RA senior management.
  • Provide guidance to marketing teams on the industry specific product and solution requirements, and assist in their introduction with associated selling guide.
  • Assure complete and timely documentation as required to include but not limited to: monthly progress/status reports, expense reports, trip reports, etc.
  • Ensure thorough familiarity with policies and procedures relating to standards of business conduct, train and motivate subordinates in the importance of full compliance with the letter and spirit of such policies and procedures.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5-7+ years of Software Sales experience (MES, PLM, ERP, Analytics, VR, AR, PTC) within the AP automotive industry and ecosystem
  • Bachelor’s degree OR 4+ years' experience in lieu of a degree
  • Ability to accommodate 35-50% global travel
  • Legal authorization to work is required – we will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening

Preferred Qualification

  • BS in Engineering or equivalent technical sales experience
  • Software industry experience
  • Typically requires 5+ years of sales experience focused on industrial automation within automotive industry and ecosystem
  • 2-3+ years of business development experience
  • Complex account management skills.
  • Large customer navigation skills.
