Our client, a Global Investment Bank, is looking for a Data Center Operator to join the Data Center Operations team. You will be responsible for the day-to-day smooth execution and continuous operations of the data center. This role prior hands on experience in patching and structured cabling is required.

    

    

Job Responsibilities:

• Day to day data center operations
• IMAC - Installations, Move, Add, Change, Decommission of IT equipment (networks, servers, networks, storage, backup devices and hardware)
• Media management - HDD/SSD Destruction and Disposals
• Coordination of disposal of decommissioned hardware
• Connect and disconnect cable patches to equipment in DC
• Hardware break fix support – installation of parts, reseat module, SFP module replacement, HDD / Memory replacement
• Physical / visual inspection
• Provide onsite support during power down / up activities
• Troubleshooting of issues for IT equipment
• Receive delivery or arrange for delivery
• Management of DCS Inventory records (list of devices installed in IT facilities, spare parts and storage Rooms)
• Perform regular asset inventory accuracy inspection
• Rack allocations for new install requests
• Inventory/Documentation updates for new installation of structured cabling and cabling material
• Capacity management (space, power, cooling, patch panel port availability)
• Understanding of DC Space, Power, Cooling management
• Vendor coordination, Vendor escort / supervision
• Performs regular checks to ensure IT room floor plans are updated
• Change Management process
• Support Physical access control and processes
• Incident Management Process
• DC Access request management
• Provide regular reporting on progress as required by Bank (i.e. move, change, support request tickets, change tickets, etc.)
• Support procurement processes
• Regular reporting, maintain, develop and improve reporting capabilities
• Provide support regionally in countries and locations managed by APAC Data Center Services team
• Provide a weekday shift and weekend work as required

    

    

    

Job Requirements:

• Minimum of 5 years' experience working in the Data Centre operations
• Good understanding and knowledge in data cabling, i.e. structured cabling, and patching
• Good level of experience with inventory management
• Good level of experience with supporting change and incident management
• Good documentation skills and record keeping
• Experienced in hardware support, break fix and troubleshooting. Professional certification would be good but not mandatory i.e. CCNA, MSCE, etc
• Proficiency in English language and local language where the technicians are based (i.e. Japan based technician must have Japanese language knowledge, similarly in China must have knowledge in Chinese language)
• Ability to respond to issues and provide timely update, and escalation
