Lead Software Engineer

The qualified candidate will have 5+ years defining system architectures and designing/implementing software for embedded, desktop, and mobile applications using stateof-the-art hardware and software technologies. Experience in the medical device industry is highly desired. Familiarity with analog and digital circuit design and embedded wireless technologies is a plus. 

Duties include: 

• Design, develop, and implement embedded Linux, Android app, and bare-metal software for new company products. Support and enhance existing products.
• Manage and lead the technical direction of all software development projects from concept to completion.
• Work with end-users, neuroscientists, HW engineers, and senior management to define product features .
• Independently define software requirements; produce high-level & detailed design documentation; implement and test associated software.
• Develop verification/validation plans and protocols.
• Write test protocols; supervise testing of new and existing products.

Skills & Experience

Required: 

• BS/MS Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related degree.
• 5+ years professional coding experience in C, C++, for embedded (with/without OS) and desktop applications .
• Demonstrated experience in defining embedded software architectures .
• Excellent knowledge of Linux user space programming and development tools. Working knowledge of Linux kernel, BSP, drivers, VMs, communication protocols, including TCP/IP, SPI, I2C .
• Experience integrating electronic hardware and software designs for real-time embedded systems.  Ability to read schematics.
• Ability to work with multi-disciplinary team to identify and document system requirements, and to design software solutions to meet those requirements; coordinate testing and release.
• Excellent verbal and written communications.
• Ability to effectively present information & respond to questions. 
•  Self-starter able to perform duties with little or no supervision.  

Highly Desired

•  Experience working in an medical device environment, working knowledge of associated regulations (CFDA),  standards (IEC 60601 series), and guidance documents.
•  MSP430, DM37xx, OMAP35x, H8S processors. LogicPD Torpedo SOM.
• Camera module integration and image flow.
• Mobile platform application development – Android, iOS.
• Hands-on experience with Android SDK, Eclipse.  Commercial App development and deployment.
• Experience in the neuro-stimulation field.
• Technical writing skills: Software development life cycle documents (Requirements, Design, Test Protocols, Work Instructions) .
• Experience using in-circuit emulators, logic analyzers, and oscilloscopes.
• Advanced version control and SCM knowledge in Subversion and Git.
• Linux/Windows server system administration.
• Experience in custom embedded hardware bring up.
• Maintaining an embedded Linux development environment (toolchains, sysroot, dev/testing environment) .
• Low level Linux networking configuration and debugging.
• U-Boot boot loader development and configuration.
• Image processing - machine vision experience.
• Experience with C#, Windows Forms and .NET for Windows applications.
