We are looking for a senior level trademark associate with no less than 5-year solid experience in trademark prosecution and enforcement matters. The work focuses on giving practical advice on portfolio management, enforcement options and non-traditional/non-routine enquiries on trademark related matters. The position will work closely with partner and handle client facing matters on a regular basis..

The candidate is required to

1. have comprehensive trademark knowledge and understand well the trademark filing strategies in order to help client set up sufficient portfolio for self-use and future enforcement needs;
2. be able to think analytically and strategically, have strong self-learning and researching skills in order to deal with non-traditional/non-routine questions from the client.
3. have good work management skills, is able to manage comprehensive cases with multiple parallel actions, and is able to supervise the junior associates’ work quality, progress etc.
4. have good negotiation and communication skill for working with third parties, such as investigators, trademark authorities, courts, etc.
5. have solid experience in handling contentious trademark matters such as:

1）trademark oppositions, invalidations and cancellation actions;

2）internet trademark protection actions, including takedowns on Taobao, WeChat, from domain name registrar, IP servers, etc.

3）trademark customs protection, including communicating with local customs, attending customs meeting, training customs for the client etc.;

4）preparing and following up demand letters and other letters, noticing the subtle tones of letters and is able to efficiently communicating with the recipient to achieve the goals;

5）preparing and filing administrative complaints against infringing products and infringing company names, duly coordinating with third parties and supervising their work progress;

7）attending trade fairs, filing complaints to delist infringing products, notarizing infringement evidence at the trade fair etc.

8）various types of evidence preservation with notary publics, such as website notarization, notary purchase, recording of conversation with notary public, etc.

Other qualifications

1. BA Degree at Law , or above, intellectual property major is preferred
2. Fluent in English or Japanese both for reading, writing and speaking (CET band 6 or above; Japanese band 1), excellent legal writing skills preferred；
3. Good practice with computer and MS office system
4. Good at team work, skilled in communication and team management
5. Dedicated, responsible and reliable, mature way of communication
6. Open-minded with logical thinking
7. Able to handle urgent and unexpected cases and work under pressure
