The role

As a Senior Sourcing Manager in Shenzhen office, you should have good communication skills, talent development ability, excellent teamwork and innovative thinking.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

• Overall management of the International Purchasing Office (Asia) in Shenzhen including general administration and legal responsibilities as required.
• Management and leadership of the GSA team located in the International Purchasing Office (Asia). Lead the development of a high quality, stable supply base within Asia to support global supply operations.
• Provide guidance to broader staff regarding issues associated with dealing across cultural boundaries.
• Maintain positive relationships at all levels with suppliers, keeping them updated with activities and opportunities. This will include regular visits with Asian suppliers to keep up with their business and visits to operations to update them on supplier related issues.
• Coordinate improvement activities with a focus on productivity and process control improvements to maintain and improve quality and cost to the company
• Act as on-site representatives for any short or long-term quality issues, which require presence.
• Lead searches for new suppliers when required by operations around the world.
• Organise confidentiality/contractual arrangements with the supplier where required.
• Work with the responsible buyer to provide onsite support for price negotiations. This includes taking direct responsibility for the face to face negotiations and developing options within defined boundaries.
• Ensure that activities are carried out by the Supplier Alliance Office are in compliance with established quality control policies/work instructions.

Requirements:

• Apply strategic thinking to Asian supplier management practices.
• Working with Asian suppliers and aligning them with manufacturing / quality requirements.
• Liaison with individuals and teams from different cultural backgrounds
• Implementation of statistical tools across the supplier base to drive a culture of continuous improvement.
• Moving from arms length supplier relationships to long term strategic business partnerships
• Delivery of targeted cost reduction program without compromising quality and delivery of components or finished products
• Driving the implementation of 6 Sigma Lean and appropriate GMP practices across the supplier base.

Qualifications and Experience:

Minimum:

• Bachelor level degrees in engineering or business with extensive experience in a related area ie high volume manufactured goods.
• Considerable recent experience working for a Western business organisation including travel outside of Asia in a supplier development, quality assurance or business development role.
• Fluent in written and spoken Mandarin and English languages

Preferred:

• Masters degree in business
• Experience in a highly in a regulated industry (eg. Medical Device)
