Job Description:
This high level Engineer will be working with HP Business Supply Chain Procurement Engineers to work with CM/ODM/JDM Suppliers in the assembly process of Printed Circuit Assemblies (PCAs). This challenging work covers the spectrum of pre-layout to volume production of PCA Assemblies doing Design for Manufacturing as well as being a technical expert on PCA Assembly process engineering. As a member of the PCA Technology group which is part of Reliability, Environmental, and Process Engineering portion of Global Engineering Services, this position will work PAN/HP and or with specific GBUs to introduce and sustain products in a high volume supply chain that is global, complex, and challenging.
Responsible for:
· Driving standards, methods, and processes in the assembly of new or existing company products/PCAs.
· Driving down manufacturing costs, driving down defect rates, and working with Procurement Engineers and CM/ODM/JDM suppliers on meeting HP process requirements for new or existing products.
· Managing technical relationships with suppliers and/or other third-parties as you participate as a technical leader and a key representative of HP.
· Ability to advise suppliers of electronic manufacturing services, such as contract manufacturers and outsource design manufacturers, and joint design manufacturers with innovative techical solutions to complex processing problems.
· Advise business unit approval or act on the GBU behalf for requests from suppliers to process requests that will violate HP Supplier Process Requirements Standards if necessary but will not compromise quality. This includes both temporary and permanent waivers to industry standards.
· Work with the PCA Process Technology Engineering group on process, design for manufacturing, and interconnect reliability problems.
Qualifications
Education
A Bachelor's (undergraduate), Master's (graduate), or Doctorate (postgraduate) degree in a technical discipline (e.g., engineering, industrial technology, Chemistry, Chemical Eng, etc.)
Experience and knowledge
An in-depth knowledge and application of engineering principles and concepts, broad-based general engineering functional knowledge printed circuit assembly technology and associated chemistries.
Multidisciplined engineering experience is a plus and could include quality engineering as well as six sigma and other high volume process managment skills.
Additional experience with planning and managing projects, supplier and vendor management, product development and lifecycle stages, and supervising a technical staff is necessary.
