Job Purpose Statement / 工作目的描述
- Manage and own the overall product development process of assigned Territories, from planning, up till commencement of salesman samples. This should happen in line with the overall Brand strategy to meet or exceed overall corporate financial requirements
- Create along with merchandising/buying function the Seasonal Product Strategy for that will drive business growth in the targeted/relevant area
- Contribute to the long-term product strategy by actively providing input on area of implement, new innovation recommendation and new process.
- Align with global product standard and assure regional developed product will adhere or exceed what set a forth as Brand standard
- Lead the team to establish Asia Fit standard and continue to improve the execution as well as the area of improve across all product type.
- Lead the team to develop fit block for different product types with the technical team support
- Reviewing proposed design concepts to determine manufacturing feasibility, cost effectiveness, while ensuing that design integrity, quality, and gross margin goals are achieved
- Be the gate keeper on reviewing product developed is “Brand Right”.
- Guide the development team to actively provide product-related cost saving options on new and carryover styles to designer, merchandising/buying to capitalize margin requirement
- Work closely with our VF Asia Sourcing function to assure we work with the right vendor at the right price for commercialization of product
- Apply a retail mind set to all decision making
Principal Accountabilities / 主要职责
1. Management of product development (Commercialization) process
- Manage the development of all products in line with the seasonal merchandise plan (Except footwear) and draw the result to achieve seasonal objectives
- Manage and review the fit requirement of each season and to determinate fit block requirement
- Manage fit, fabric, finish, trims (including packaging and labeling) developments and work closely with global material team to gain the access and specimen of seasonal fabric/trims information
- Manage on-site development support
- Manage prototyping of samples
- Manage complete technical specifications for developments
- Manage fit sessions
- Ensure both product technical superiority and product quality/integrity is meeting/exceed brand requirement
- Oversee specifications execution
o Pre-costing during proto review stage
o Manage costing process (target, brief, prototype, sample) and identify opportunities for improving cost during sample development stage
o Solve design construction/fabric/color/quality issues in collaboration with production through entire process until production.
- Lead the team to develop the seasonal development calendar of the region.
- Budget control for relevant team in regards traveling, consultancy and samples, etc.
2. Creative guidance for the category
- To assure the team members the understanding of global/regional seasonal creative theme and apply the same in seasonal development
- Manage product designs in delivering a clear, innovative and consumer target focused message that will position the brand a market leader
- Supervise creative development of the Product range
- Support Product Development Director in execution of brand strategies and seasonal inspiration/product stories, proactively engaging and providing input
- Translate design direction into both seasonal and long-term concepts relevant to the Brand
- Liaise with trend analyst, conduct market research to identify trends appropriate to the Brand
- Liaise with merchandising and buying function to identify product needs in terms of the size of product line, commercial market needs and product launch schedule
3. People management
- Ensure a world class product development team in place
- Ensure the team to understand of the brand history, target consumer/market and translating this into the day to day development work
- Be the campaign to build talent in the team, support and help them to build their career in the Brand/VF.
- Effective multi-cultural management
- Collaborate with Product Development Director in succession plans and individual development plan
- Consistently in seeking opportunity to improve development knowledge and skill of developers
- Aspires to the leadership role and see him/herself as the change agent, demonstrates the ability to work with and inpire a broad range of colleagues to work toward a common goal
4. Key Relationships
- Create, drive and sustain highly effective and influential key relationship with internal and extremal partners that will deliver the business objectives.
- Work closely with merchandising/buying function to ensure synergy throughout the development process
- Work hand-on with VF sourcing functions in developing excellence quality of products
- Work closely with external creative partners/freelancers (if applicable) to ensure the same excellent quality of development and the timeline would be as in house
- Have regular touch base with global development engine, to learn and understand the best practice, process and also global product standard
5. Process Management: drive and influence to implement
- Drive the implementation of the full product development process internally and externally. Regular review the performance measurement and seek for further improvement whenever possible.
- Deliver the development calendar milestones
- Make sure that all direct reports understand the GTM process and seasonal business objectives.

Minimum Supervisory Experience:
10 year(S)
Minimum Academic Requirement:
BA or BS degree in Business, Engineering, Manufacturing, Fashion Design, Textile or equivalent combination of education and experience
Required Professional Qualification:
1. Technical Knowledge of outdoor functional material
2. Successful project management skill and knowledge of the product cycle and product development timeline
3. Knowledge and experience in using PDM system in specification and styling development
4. Knowledge and experience in using Adobe Illustrator and able to do sketches
5. Patterning knowledge (Preference)
6. Experience and knowledge on Digtial Product Creation/Development (Preference)
