The Role

National Instruments Application Engineers ensure customer success at accounts by demonstrating the highest technical aptitude and professional engineering skills. They provide innovative solutions and deliver projects while becoming trusted technical partners for NI’s customers. This is a role that requires not only good understanding of industry (ADG) with domain knowledge, but also strong personal drive and can-do attitude to learn and solve customers’ application needs.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Process ADG related application requests with solid technical skills, mastering applications in at least one category of Satellite Production Test, Satellite Payload Test, Radio Station Test, Navigation, Communication system development, Radar etc.;
• Work closely with Sales to provide advanced pre-sale and post-sale support for key account in ADG applications;
• Write and debug test programs in NI platform or 3rd party toolchains to solve customer's test problem for ADG applications;
• Co-work with senior peers to create technical content for customers and sales, including application notes, Demos, presentations, etc.;
• Reproduce customer problems for software/hardware engineering to correct, and provide interim solutions to keep our customers' production flowing;
• Develop competitive benchmarks to differentiate us from the competition;
• Travel to customer sites to support Design Engineers, Test Engineers, Product Engineers and Manufacturing Engineers;
• Work with Sales and Marketing to develop sales and support strategies;
• Teach technical classes and seminars to customers and NI internal engineers.

 

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor or higher degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math);
• 2+ years of relevant industry experience in the areas of test software and system development of satellite test system or sub-modules, like wideband demodulator or channelizer emulation, signal monitoring and test system, TT&C, HDR, etc.;
• Experience in developing in communication system, high frequency domain FPGA systems and have good understanding in some DSP algorithm implementation;
• Experience in common test engineering technologies: diagnostic, real-time OS, etc.;
• Experience in communicating directly with customers and competent in tailoring conversation to navigate customer to uncover entire needs;
• Willing and able to travel domestically or internationally, up to 20%;
• Project management skills and sense of urgency in project delivery;
• Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal communication skills, Fluency in English.

Preferred Qualifications

• Technical domain expertise in Satellite Test, Model Based Design and DVB-S2 protocol;
• Knowledge of National Instruments software and hardware platform, including LabVIEW, RFmx, LabIVEW FPGA, PXI;
• NI Certification and products experience is a plus.

Key Performance Objectives

• Achievement of key support objectives for assigned accounts/projects tied to project delivery, issues resolution, customer proficiency development;
• Recognized by customer and account manager to have contributed to customer success; building organization level loyalty to NI, as measured through satisfaction survey;
• Drive design wins, platform adoption and repeat business at key accounts.
