The Global Test Engineering software test development team is looking for a software engineer to design, develop and execute automation tests on multiple Dell/EMC designed products. The ideal candidate should have a strong electrical theory background with a working knowledge of circuit board designs. Debugging and failure analysis are a must for the successful candidate. In addition, the candidate should exhibit self-sufficiency, high levels of motivation, and the ability to quickly and thoroughly learn new and complex topics.

Key Responsibilities:
Responsible for the software design and development for external customer products.

·       Utilizes a range of applicable technologies (e.g., cloud development operations, agile technologies, programming languages, compilers, assemblers, debuggers, other tools) for product lines.

·       Modifies existing software products to add new functions, adapt to new hardware or software environments, improve performance or enhance product usability.

·       Participates in product development in all stages from planning and design to development, testing and documentation. Leads the design of new technologies.

·       Monitors optimizes and controls dependent resources.

·       Assists with the implementation of new or additional product enhancements.

 

Essential Requirements:

·       Solid knowledge of programming languages; operating systems; firmware; BIOS; device drivers; databases; system, network, operating system, and application administration; embedded software/firmware; tools and utilities

·       Able to code/debug more complex programs using either written or verbal design specifications

·       Able to achieve mastery of new tools and languages with training and on-the-job experience

·       Able to understand and follow software lifecycle methods

·       Understands tradeoffs between hardware and software interactions.  Good understanding of hardware.

·       Able to learn new operating systems with training and on-the-job experience

·       Solid knowledge of software networking architectures and applications

 

Desirable Requirements:

o   Both software and hardware experience/knowledge either through college courses or work experience.

o   2+ years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or an advanced degree without experience; or equivalent experience
