This position reports to company's Managing Director.

Main Functions and Responsibilities:
Merck Chemicals China runs EHS relevant activities at approx. 10 locations (warehouses, laboratories, manufacturing sites, high rise offices) all over China:
Build up an integrated EHS concept in Merck Chemicals China, compliant with Merck global EHS guidelines
This function represents EHS Chemicals China, locally as well as globally, fulfilling the role of EHS Country Coordinator (Chemicals China)
Secures that China EHS monthly reporting is compliant with global standards and approves EHS reports from sites
Prepares management reviews and provides to country manager and heads of legal entities
Screens national EHS requirements and communicates to EHS manger at each production site
Observe all regulations, laws, supplementary regulations and official conditions stipulated in the approval licenses
Identifies potential business risks deriving from legal requirements and communicates to all relevant stakeholders
Ensures preparation of EHS statements for new project investments and applications for permissions
Prepares, runs and supports global EHS audits, incl. follow-up with reports and corrective actions (e.g. EQ-E audit, ISO 14001, etc.)
Establishes and secures implementation of global EHS programs that rolled out to sites
Facilitates best practice sharing between different sites in China
National advisor and expert for all requests coming from sites located at China

Requirements:
Study of environmental protection, engineering or science
More than 10 years work experience at EHS related organization of a multinational or EHS consulting company, preferably at chemical or pharmaceutical industry
Sound experiences in authority management
Strong communication and facilitation skills. Strong result orientation and able to manage with impact
Fluent English
