Summary:

 

The successful candidate will join our Pharmaceutical Science group which is responsible for discovery pharmaceutics (discovery support), definition of the preclinical formulations, biopharmaceutical evaluation and support, salt and crystal form selection and evaluation, drug substance characterization and formulation development through various phases of drug product development.

Major Responsibilities

·         Work with the medicinal chemistry team to provide API characterization and formulation support for preclinical studies.

·         Engage with discovery colleagues on the developability assessment on drug candidates.

·         Design and conduct/outsource API phase/salt screens and drug substance characterization

·         Support formulation design and development to advance compounds through various phases of drug product development

·         Utilize various physical and chemical characterization tools and techniques to understand the complex interplay of formulation composition and process on product performance in stability, bioavailability and processability.

·         Communicate with the internal teams and external vendors, including writing project proposal, organizing meetings, reviewing and updating ongoing projects, preparing project final report.

 

Position Qualifications:

Education Requirement:  PhD in Pharmaceutics, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Sciences or other relevant disciplines, with 1 year, or MS with 3+ years, or BS with 5+ years of experience in industry. 

Required Experience and Skills: Experience in formulation development and preformulation studies; Strong scientific acumen, with ability to solve problems of medium/high complexity via independent planning, design, execution and interpretation of experiments; Fluency in one or more of the following areas, X-ray diffraction and scattering, thermal analysis, spectroscopy, chromatographic analysis and particle size analysis; General knowledge in biopharmaceutics; Strong written, and verbal communication skills; Self-motivated with a positive attitude; Ability to learn new techniques and multi-task in a fast paced environment
