Key Objectives
Development of vehicle dynamics functions and systems: Target definition and specification, concept design studies, system design management and functional development of components and systems for production release.

Coordination in the development process and calibration of parts, assemblies, control units, software programs, multi-functional systems and system architectures from concept to functional integration, achieving a well-balanced compromise between function, cost, weight, quality and energy demand while keeping to the project schedule.

Coordination of the virtual validation, coordination and conduction of the corresponding tests. Adaption and implementation of new development processes and new technologies.

Major Responsibilities
-Implementation of BMW processes for chassis calibration and mentoring and training of local staff.
-Develop consistent and robust vehicle dynamics performance for all New Brand and BMW China derivatives taking into account product objectives, customer requirements, deadlines, quality, cost, weight and CO2-emission issues.
-Functional integration and calibration of specific vehicle dynamics systems and tuning of vehicle performance characteristics considering parameters of influence to handling and ride in order to achieve an optimal performance regarding customer requirements.
-Planning, execution and documentation of all activities regarding the functional development of vehicle dynamics in assigned vehicle projects.
-Management of projects and external partners (test track and engineering service providers) to achieve defined functional targets.
-Vehicle dynamics measurement of prototype and production vehicles (BMW, NB) and competitor vehicles.
-Validation (vehicle, test bench, simulation): Coordinate and perform experiments and test cases. Design and prepare complex test rigs and testing equipment. Supervise the design, making and assembly of test equipment. Interpret test results, assess and interpret measurements. Ensure documentation. Write test reports incl. evaluation and conclusions. Supervise the creation of testing manuals. Develop new guidelines for testing.
Supervise the design of virtual validation methods and complex simulations. Prioritize virtual validation methods. Develop new CAE methods and ensure their implementaion into the development processes.
-Project Management: Coordinate the complex development processes. Check and break down schedules, cost and capacity plans and adjust them if necessary, align priorities, define interfaces. Represent the department in integration teams of the product line. Support the purchasing department in the selection of suppliers and the conception of contracts. Initiate and confirm purchasing orders. Manage engineering services of suppliers and service providers. Initiate benchmarking analyses. Plan and manage virtual validation. Ensure the acceptance of internal and external CAE services.
-Release Recommendation: Ensure the timely delivery of complex systems for development regarding function. Check the progress of development. Align and provide measures and proposals for achieving the development goals. Assess and evaluate development steps, if necessary, take corrective action. Definition, initiation and evaluation of the required release testing. Give release recommendations.

Education / Degree
Engineer (BSc, MSc, PhD) in "Automotive or Mechanical Engineering" or similar.

Experience
7-10 years of professional experience in the automotive industry with thorough training, knowledge and skills in at least one vehicle dynamics system.
7-10 years of excellent driving and overall vehicle evaluation skills of motor vehicles up to and beyond the car's handling limits.
4-6 years of profound knowledge about various influencing parameters and their effects on vehicle dynamics.
