Role Summary/Purpose

Software Engineer in Test Automation for NPI's relative to Level devices, valve diagnostics, low cost valve positioner, Fieldbus positioner, and Smart pressure relief valve technology.

Essential Responsibilities

As a Software Engineer in Test, you will work in New Product R&D team to design and develop automated test solutions for Smarts, Software and Services used in process automation industries. You will work in a highly collaborative, multi-discipline, fast-paced and global environment. This position reports to the head of the Software Group. As a Software Engineer in Test, you will: • Understand the business’ opportunities and marketing plan to drive technology solutions with software. Own the design and development of the software modules and systems and work with testers in specific implementations. • Provide technical expertise and leadership in the design and development of new test system for device and supporting tools. • Participate in device, software and product performance and failure analysis. • Participate in the design and development of software development team as needed. • Participate in the software V&V testing activities as needed. • Participate in system lab setup, maintenance and improvement. • Participate in sustaining engineering and customer support. • Participate in Installation Build and Development Automation design and support. • Work with other technical leaders to improve and refine platform/system/device • Successfully communicate project plans, tracking details, status updates to stake holder.

Qualifications/Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science or Engineering (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 4 years of IT or engineering experience). • At least 3 additional years of experience with code-writing in a variety of programming languages. • At least 2 years of experience in software quality control and quality assurance processes.

Desired Characteristics

• 8+ years experience in Labview based test system design and integration. • Demonstrated project leadership experience • Experienced in data acquisition both analog and digital, signal processing and integrity, curve fitting, data analysis, etc. • Familiar with PID based Process control and Servo control. • Knowledge in C/C++/VB/VBA/Scripting/Excel/DB as part of the work experience. • Knowledge in test case, test design and test reporting as part of the work experience. • Sufficient knowledge to optimize the performance of test system and test solution. • Knowledge in multi-threaded applications. • Experience in Visual Studio and knowledge in TFS. • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills • Ability to work independently and collaboratively • Ability to lead the junior and senior members of the software development team. • Ability to prioritize and manage work to critical project timelines in a fast-paced environment • Must be organized, have an eye for detail, and be able to put ideas into a tangible form • Able to travel globally for global team project development. • Familiar with process automation related technical regulations and standards. • Hardware aptitude • Software installation build experience and development automation knowledge.
