Role Summary/Purpose

As a Senior Aero System Analysis Engineer, you will have primary responsibility for envisioning and leading research and development projects in the field of aerodynamics, heat transfer, aeroacoustics, or combustion. You will serve as an expert in one or more areas, working to develop new technologies for the support of GE businesses in


Essential Responsibilities

You will lead and work in a team of mechanical engineers to conduct aero system analysis of a range of GE products for Aviation, Energy, Oil & Gas, Transportation, as well as Health Care. Your responsibilities will include developing innovative mechanical engineering technologies, and providing vision to the company in these technologies. You will also be expected to provide regular mentoring and coaching of less-experienced engineers. As a Senior Research Engineer, you will: • Invent, analyze, and apply the developed mechanical engineering technologies to continuously improve the aero and/or heat transfer performance of GE products; • Articulate the benefit of these technologies to internal/external customers on a frequent basis; • Participate in identifying, planning, and developing conceptual designs for validation experiments; • Validate analytical and numerical models using experimental data; • Build customer relationships and engage with them on technology development activities; • Influence customer technical direction; • Collaborate with the GE Businesses to implement inventions and improvements; • Provide technical consulting, coaching, and mentoring for early-career scientists & engineers.


Qualifications/Requirements

• Doctorate in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related disciplines with at least 8 years of relevant experience; • In-depth knowledge of aerodynamics, heat transfer, aeroacoustics, and/or combustions; • Industrial background developing and validating aerodynamics analysis tools; • Strong strategic focus & influence to drive organization technologies;• Demonstrated ability to solve difficult challenges and to develop mechanical systems and components with breakthrough aero and/or heat transfer performance; • Demonstrated project leadership experience, including successful track record of completing deliverables on schedule and under budget; • Experience in driving new concepts from design to analysis to validation via prototype testing; • Knowledge and proficiency in commercial software such as ICEMCFD, Fluent, CFX, and experience with High Performance Computing systems.


Desired Characteristics

• At least 12 years of experience in aerodynamics R&D; • Previous experience in aero/thermal performance of mechanical systems for aviation and energy industries; • Clear evidence of innovation and creativity; • Excellent work ethic, capable of working well in broad areas with diverse teams; • Experience of working in teams and creating innovative technology solutions; • Demonstrated interpersonal, leadership and communication skills in a global team environment;• Excellent written and verbal communication skills;• Expertise in Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) methods, experience in optimization, probabilistic design;• Exceptional passion for science and technology
