Main Accountabilities

Technical and economic feasibility study and cost effective innovative solution study in following area (included but not limited)

1. Power distribution network: reliability, efficiency, high RE penetration in planning, construction, operation and maintenance

2. Renewable energy, distributed energy resources：delivery and integration

3. Microgrid / regional grid: system tech-economic-optimal solution and evaluation

4. Power transmission: HVDC, VSC HVDC, FACTS, etc.

5. Energy Storage and its applications

Design and Specification

1. Power system design: SLD, operational concept, etc.

2. Control and automation system: architecture, specification of necessary interfaces.

3. Energy storage: architecture, battery, PCS

4. Product and system requirements specifications, functional specifications, concept designs and product data sheets.

Leadership and coordination

1. To take concepts from an initial idea through concept, design, specifications, user scenarios, test cases, to completion.

2. Internal and external coordination.

Solution promotion and Customer Interaction

1. To disseminate ABB’s technical solutions in Smart Grid area internally and externally

2. Evangelize ABB’s smart grid vision to all the local stakeholders.

3. Leads or active participation to discussion with customers in close collaboration: from proposal to get approvals for functional specifications.

Process

1. Ensures continuous standardization in order to promote the reusability of the developed technical solutions. Cooperates with other teams to ensure best use of available tools (e.g. software) in order to enhance efficiency and minimize errors.

Challenges

1. Quickly show the competence in a market segment in transition and across ABB’s business units

2. Building up knowledge on a new and complex subject across regions with different history and background within ABB

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

1. Master or Ph.D, strong technical background (electrical engineering, control & automation, power electronics)

2. >5 years relevant experience in or with utilities industries

3. Open minded and team spirit; excellent innovation capability

4. Self-motivated, willing to face different tasks and new challenges, strong ownership and leadership capability

5. Adapt to multi-language working environment, fluent in spoken and written English

6. Good communication and presentation skills
