ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT/TEAM
The vision is to establish a globally aligned Procurement function, equipped with the necessary skills and tools alongside a clear remit to deliver better value for money. This enhanced Procurement function will provide proactive, expert procurement support, allowing the business to focus on their core skills and deliver value in their specialist area.
Procurement will be developing a greater level of engagement with the business units and establishing a strong business partnering approach.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING AND WHY
As the Procurement Manager, you will contribute to the development of strategic procurement for the British Council China and ensure compliance with global procurement policies and processes. Your role is also to promote cross country procurement activities and ensure consideration of collaboration of opportunities is undertaken on regional large-scale procurement work.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
You must have a minimum of three years’ experience in procurement as well as a bachelor’s degree in a relevant major. It is also essential that you have good communication skills in Chinese C2 (HSK 6, or equivalent) and English B2 (APTIS, IELTS 6 or equivalent). Experience on category/contract management and in working with cross-functional and multicultural teams is also an advantage.

The British Council has had a presence in China since 1943, and since 1979 we have been operating as the Culture and Education Section of the British Embassy and Consulate-Generals in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Chongqing. We also opened our first English centre in Mainland China in September 2017, based in Nanjing.
