Role and Responsibility:
? Responsible for the selection, approval, substitution and lifecycle maintenance of components used in Avaya designs.
? Additional responsibilities include processing Component Product Change Notifications (PCNs) and providing guidance for the selection of alternates.
? Identifies opportunities for redesign or component substitution to provide cost reduction, and common use of components/suppliers across Avayas'platforms.
? Leads, monitors and tracks the component qualifications through approval of alternate components and/or suppliers.
? Ensures preferred suppliers / components are selected during new product development.
? Coordinates delivery of samples to applicable Engineers based on Products impacted.
? Maintains Avaya's approved vendor lists (AVL); performs ongoing management of the Component Life-Cycle data in the Product Data Management (PDM) system based upon product change notifications.
? Central point of contact for all Manufacturer and Supplier Product Change Notices (PCNs) impacting both the Electrical and Mechanical components.
? Evaluates all PCN's or End-Of-Life (EOL) notifications to determine relevance and potential impacts by performing where-used analysis and identifying alternate solutions that are form-fit-function (FFF) compatible.
? Works with both the Product Development team(s) and New Product Introduction (NPI) team to create advanced visibility to high risk Bill of Materials.
? Performs Bill-of-Material (BOM) risk assessments; evaluates risk against a set of measurable criteria at designated product realization gates.
? Assures availability of required compliance documentation (e.g. RoHS) for components used in Avaya products.
Specific Knowledge, Application, Technical and/or Management Skills required:
? B.S. or better in Electrical of Mechanical Engineering with 7+ years experience in Component Engineering
? Strong technical knowledge of electronic or mechanical components
? Understanding/working knowledge of engineering documentation (i.e. schematics, component data sheets, gerber files, specs) and standard document control practices (MCO's, ECR's, ECO's, deviations)
? Experience in Agile or working knowledge of other PDM/PLM application a plus
? Passive electronics assembly and manufacturing experience
? Ability to interact with and influence multiple individuals in a global work environment; successful candidate will need to communicate with employees in other geographical regions which will require occasional conference calls during early morning or evenings
? Ability to interact with customers; superior influencing/communication skills required
? Should be able to communicate clearly in both written and verbal English and Mandarin.
? Fluent in English
