Objective of job

The scope of activities for the Enterprise Storage and Backup Infrastructure Operation are for Daimler locations and server rooms located in China. The working location is Beijing. The following activities are required:

KPIs:

• Storage availability, Backup Server and client nodes achieved as per SLA defined

• The defined SLA response/resolution times of all incidents are fulfilled

• All execution time of the defined change request is fulfilled

• To follow all standard processes defined by Daimler in the area of Incident, problem, change, release management

• To support providing standard ITI/O operational reports, especially performance & capacity planning statistics

• Support hours: Onsite support during office hours; standby support for non-business-hours

Task designation

‘PLAN’ activities Storage

• Storage design based on the hardware vendor best practice and relevant Daimler-defined standards

• Assist in developing storage hardware infrastructure lifecycle management strategy

• Define and maintain regular maintenance concept/policy for storage hardware/software firmware and interface software updates

• Develop and maintain complete system availability & performance monitoring concept for all (physical/logical/virtual) storage systems

• Develop and maintain complete system backup/recovery concept and procedure for Storage devices and SAN Switches

• Periodic capacity planning & reporting

• Define & maintain storage provisioning concept and procedure based on the Storage design and Daimler-specific

• Coordinate and perform experts discussion with vendors as required for all of above activities

‘IMPLEMENTATION’ activities Storage

• Assist in hardware infrastructure procurement (BoM verification, vendor discussions, etc.)

• Storage and SAN Switches hardware infrastructure implementation, testing and commissioning; Develop & maintain all relevant documentation

• Perform standard storage high availability setup, testing and commissioning; Develop & maintain all relevant documentation

• Perform storage availability & performance monitoring

• Setup, test and maintain fabric across SAN Switches / across datacentres

• Setup and maintain Storage and SAN Switches configuration backup

• Setup and maintain replication (Business copy, Continuous access, RSM etc.) across all storage platforms

• Setup, maintain, and review storage provisioning concepts based on OS types (AIX, HPUX, VMware, Solaris, Windows, Clustering etc.)

3 ‘RUN’ activities Storage

• Perform day-to-day storage hardware/software administration tasks

• Incident and problem troubleshooting (via storage logs checking, issue determination/resolution commands, etc.)

• Executing approved change requests

• Perform storage provisioning tasks according to given technical and timeline requirement

• Perform storage hardware/software firmware/software updates

• Assist enterprise monitoring team to perform Storage availability & performance monitoring

• Generate periodic reports and participate in capacity planning meetings

4 ‘PLAN’ activities Enterprise Backup

• Prepare backup policies as per Daimler-defined standards

• Assist to develop various reports for China and Support team.

• Define and maintain regular maintenance concept/policy for system hardware/software firmware, service packs, patch updates

• Develop and maintain complete system availability & backup operations

• Define & maintain system provisioning concept and procedure based on Daimler specific and ITIL processes

• Coordinate and perform experts discussion with vendors as required for all of above activities

• Maintain and control the deployed enterprise backup solutions (solution release cycle management)

5 IMPLEMENTATION’ activities Enterprise Backup

• Assist to deploy backup solutions for various projects

• Server hardware and software infrastructure implementation, testing and commissioning

• Develop & maintain all relevant documentation

• Setup and maintain backup infrastructure

• Perform standard backup server and/or client nodes setup, testing and commissioning

• Setup and maintain basic infrastructure required for system hardware/software firmware, service packs, patch updates

• Perform backup operations ensuring data integrity & restore availability

• Migrate/implement/transform deals to the best practice standard monitoring solutions

• Develop, customize, tune, implement, standardize, and optimize monitoring solutions based on requirements sent by support team.

• Coordinate and perform experts discussion with vendors as required for all of above activities

6 ‘RUN’ activities Enterprise Backup

• Perform day-to-day backup server hardware/software administration tasks

Qualification required

o Education

• Bachelor Degree in Information Technology or equivalent discipline

O Experience

• At least 3 years working experience in all of the later mentioned storage hardware and server operating systems platforms (AIX, HPUX, SLES, VMware and Windows)

• At least 3 years working experience in an IT in Enterprise Backup and/or SAN experience for enterprise scale production environment

• Have previous working experience in a datacenter environment

• Working experience in a cross-cultural environment is an added advantage

• Strong interpersonal skills

• Able to work independently and perform well under pressure with minimal supervision

• Strong verbal and written in Mandarin and English skills

• Storage hardware platforms in scope:

• HP EVA4100, EVA6100, EVA8100 and future releases

• Net App FAS6280/3020/3160C/2020 and future releases

• EMC VNX 5500/5700 and future releases

• Cisco MDS 9153/9509/9506 SAN Director Switch and future releases

• Brocade SAN Switches

• HP SAN Switches

• Fiber cables - LC-LC, SC-SC, GBI

• Enterprise Backup Software Support in scope:

• HP Data Protector versions (6.x 7.x and above)

• EMC Networker

• EMC Data Domain

• In-depth knowledge and proven working experience on Storage concepts: RAID, IOPS, Throughput, FCAL, iSCSI, MPIO

• In-depth knowledge and proven working experience on SAN Switch features: Zoning, Fabric creation, Fabric extension, Fabric Activation/Deactivation, VSAN, Trucking

• In-depth knowledge and proven working experience on Storage features: LUN Creation, LUN Masking, Host group, volume creation, LUN extension/sharing

• In-depth knowledge and proven working experience on Storage replication concepts: Snapshots, Snap clone, LUN/Volume replication (Continuous access)

• In-depth knowledge and proven working experience on Storage archiving concepts: D2D, B2D, D2T, VLS

• JLPT level N2 certified
