Exams System Development Manager (Tech Lead)(CHI-557)

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT/TEAM

China is one of British Council's largest exams operations, delivering extensive international exams to individuals, institutions, schools and corporate clients in mainland China. By providing access to highly valued UK qualifications, with the reassurance of integrity, we build on the UK’s reputation for world-class educational standards. Core tests we administer include IELTS, Aptis, and a wide range of academic and professional qualifications (Distribution Exams stream). The Distribution Exams stream in China encompasses school exams, professional exams, and university exams and is a critical part of our exams business.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING AND WHY

You will assist the Senior Exams System Development Manager to plan, manage and delivery the China Exams IT strategy. Ensure all the systems, platforms and websites are properly administered, maintained, developed and supported according to the corporate rules and policies, meet the exams business development objectives mitigate data associated risks and achieve utmost user and stakeholder satisfaction.

WHAT IS INTERESTING ABOUT IT

You will have opportunity to lead the full design, architecture and standards of technology in Exams system development team. You will have team management responsibility and leading a team of 3-4 developers in development group. You will act as a crucial role in leading the exams product to a digitalized future. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

To qualify for this role, you will need:

1. Language ability: English B2 (APTIS, IELTS 6 or equivalent); Chinese C1 (HSK 5 or equivalent)

2. Bachelor's degree or equivalent1. Minimum 4 years proven experience supporting and developing web/windows applications on .Net platform, Angular, VUE & SQL server.

3. Minimum 2 years proven experience in leading architecture and solution design for product

4. Proven experience in Micro-service design and Domain Driven Development practice

5. Minimum 2 years’ experience of people management

6. Proven record of IT project management

Previous experience in education/exams product management is highly preferred.

The British Council has had a presence in China since 1943, and since 1979 we have been operating as the Culture and Education Section of the British Embassy and Consulate-Generals in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Chongqing.
