 Responsibilities 

• Advise business on all legal and regulatory matters in relation to the current and future markets business of J.P. Morgan.

• Review and advise on new product initiatives and develop product documentation templates.

• Draft and negotiate a variety of contracts with customers and counterparties.

• Assist in developing standard form documentation, policies and procedures, and review and propose changes to the same to ensure that they remain appropriate in light of legal, regulatory and market developments.

• Control the quality and cost of legal services provided by external law firms and select and instruct external law firms.

• Collaborate with country/regional/global teams to provide legal support to cross border deals, cross-line-of-business matters and/or regional and global projects.

• Provide legal training to enhance general legal awareness and minimize the legal risks associated with the firm’s securities business.

• Other responsibilities required to be performed by the legal function from time to time.

 

Candidate Qualifications

• PRC qualified derivatives lawyer with at least 4 years of post-qualification legal experience

• Transactions management experience required

• Strong drafting, negotiation and legal analytical skills

• Able to work with senior management and lead initiatives involving multiple lines of business and support functions

• Able to communicate well and a good team player to work in a cross-functional team to achieve common goals

• Ability to identify and escalate issues timely and appropriately

• Ability to work under pressure, prioritize and respond to business needs and goals

• English and Chinese fluency (both written and oral) required

 

Attorneys must be licensed to practice law and a member in good standing or otherwise eligible to practice law in the jurisdiction in which the position is based.
