The role

1.Responsible for safety, health and environmental systems, including procedures, training, and compliance monitoring, for the laboratory infrastructure.

2. Reviews lab test requests for safety, and compatibility with the lab capabilities and capacity, in consultation with appropriately skilled and experienced staff.

3. Manages the day to day activities of the lab support team, including installation, maintenance, modification, and removal of tools and facilities in the lab. Working closely with the IC Manager and IC team, maintains a schedule of work for the lab support team, and a schedule of lab test bay usage.

4. Liaises closely with site facilities team, to ensure shared facilities meet laboratory needs, and contribute to site facilities planning.

5. Supervises the ordering, inventory, storage, and maintenance of gases, other lab supplies, and lab instruments, as required to meet the agreed plans of lab users. Monitors the lab safety systems and arranges for their maintenance and repair. Responsible for control of the budget for these items.

6. Develops and maintains appropriate calibration control of lab instruments, and ensures technical staff are trained how to calibrate instruments.

Skills and experience

• Effectively manages stakeholder relationships by establishing credibility and trust and delivering on commitments
• Solid understanding of customer value drivers, their return on investment and total cost of ownership.
• Able to judge and investigate customer requests against future trends both within the semiconductor industry and the internal product development programs
• Understands and supports Atlas Copco values, decentralisation model, brand strategy and values and effectively utilises the common tools and processes supported by the central team
• Champions the Atlas Copco Code of Practice and manages business processes to ensure the effective allocation of resources in a way that maximises returns ensuring no internal competition
• Understands and supports wider company strategies for customer account, product and operations.  Identifies gaps in strategy and and seeks guidance to close gaps strategies to the team providing direction and guidance for centre
• Manages the overall quality of the deliverables from the Innnovation Centre and ensures every project is data driven – so that the need can be prioritized and the future benefit can be made visible.
• Evaluates all ideas using concept selection process and accurately manages the recording of ideas to ensure IP integrity for the company
• Effectively establishs a collobrative network throughout the various stakeholder groups ensuring diversity is respected and used to leverage a solution for best business outcome
• Ensures that any project takes account of sometimes less visible commercial and legal contraints.
• Experienced in building a strong cohesive team, with highly skilled members
• Able to foster a climate that values customer satisfaction
• Effectively motivates and coaches team members and identifies potential successors for own role
