Regional Procurement Manager (EA-PROC-0040)

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING AND WHY

As the Regional Procurement Manager, you will be working with the Head of Procurement for East Asia and the global Category Managers to identify regional procurement opportunities, prepare and present business case, plan and deliver, those programs for British Council across the 14 countries of East Asia. You will support in running cross SBUs/cross countries strategic procurement projects to lead and deliver end to end large scale or complex regional sourcing projects for the following categories which include travel and venues, facilities management, marketing, professional services, IT/Telco and financial services.

WHAT IS INTERESTING ABOUT IT

In East Asia, the procurement function has recently been implemented, starting in China and Thailand. The next step is to influence and support procurement activities across all 14 countries of the East Asia region. This role requires building strong partnership with key stakeholders to ensure the appropriate level of influence over procurement activities in all SBUs.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

To be considered successful, you should have a bachelor’s degree in business, economics or relevant with at least five to ten years in procurement function preferably in indirect categories. You should also have proven experience in procurement sourcing project and strong stakeholder management. Travel within region are require occasionally. Regional experience in APAC would be advantageous.

The British Council has had a presence in China since 1943, and since 1979 we have been operating as the Culture and Education Section of the British Embassy and Consulate-Generals in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Chongqing. We also opened our first English centre in Mainland China in September 2017, based in Nanjing.

Over 1,000,000 people who have taken an exam with us within the past year, be it an English language exam, such as the IELTS exam, or a professional exam, such as the ACCA qualification.

10,000 English teachers and one million students who have benefitted from our English language teacher training programmes in the past two years.

Nearly 155,000 Chinese students who are currently studying in the UK, many of whom have engaged with our work encouraging and supporting student mobility.

One billion people reached and influenced annually through our 2015 Year of Cultural Exchange and Shakespeare Lives campaigns.
