Journal Development Editor, Medicine, China

Report to the Executive Editor Journals, Medicine & Life Sciences, Beijing

Functions and Duties

Complete analyses of Springer medicine journal profile as well as research trends in China

Existing portfolio development

• Pint of contact for the international team and liaison with local team for journal development strategies related to China
• Responsibilities include the organization of special issues and facilitating the recruitment of editorial board members
• Preparation of reports and other communications that raise awareness about the contributions of Chinese researchers

New journal launches

• Identify and recommend opportunities in the market to the acquisitions team
• Operational activities required for launching new titles on schedule and positioned for success

Identify and further develop partnerships with research institutes/hospitals in China and coordination of journal development activities in line with company strategy

Requirements

• PhD or Master’s degree in Medicine or relevant majors
• Thorough understanding of the Chinese scientific research community and its networks
• Strong interpersonal, communication and influencing skills, and fluent in English (written and spoken)
• Sound knowledge of and interest in science in general
• Highly self-motivated, resourceful and achievement-oriented
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, knowledge of scientific bibliographic tools preferable
• Strong workload management and organisational skills
• Active, supportive team player
• Overseas study or working experience preferable
• Some journal publishing experience/knowledge preferable
