We are looking for a Research Team Leader at ABB Beijing Drive Systems. In this position, you will be the local lead of global ABB Motion research organization in China and manage the local research projects as part of the global portfolio. You will collaborate with Chinese Universities and, in selected areas, scan the scientific and technological progress in China to support both local and global Motion business in both understanding the technology trends and adapting to them. To maintain your scientific prowess, you will also do own research together with your team or with university partners. To secure the transfer of knowledge and technology, your team will work closely with the product development organization of Beijing Drive Systems. You will be reporting globally to Motion Business Research Manager and locally to Business Line Drives R&D Manager.

- Define and manage local research project portfolio in alignment with global research strategy and local business strategy.
- Conduct research and technology development in the field of variable speed drives, motion control and analytics together with your research team
- Manage and coordinate team resources (human, financial). Retain, develop and optimize team competence aligning to the strategic research directions.
- Monitor the execution of all research projects run by the team, ensure on-time completion & high-quality results.
- Secure communication and networking with all related stakeholders – both locally and within the global research organization.
- Build long-term collaborations with local academic society.
- Scan local science and technology progress

- Master’s degree majored in power electronics, electrical drives, motion control, analytics, SW or other related discipline. PhD degree is a strong further advantage.
- More than 3 years industrial experience as R&D Project Manager or other management role in electrical drives or power electronics
- Proven skills in leadership
- Network to the academic community
- Strong technical & scientific expertise

- Skills in cross-organizational and cross-cultural coordination
- Good communication and presentation skills
- Fluent in written and oral English and Chinese
- Willing to work under pressure, to assume responsibilities
