Summary: The U.S. Mission in Shanghai is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Cashier (Class B).

The work schedule for this position is:

• Full Time (40 hours per week)

Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.

Supervisory Position: Yes

Duties:The cashier (Class B) is responsible for the functional supervision of two alternate cashiers and the seven sub-cashiers for various State subsections and other agencies, maintains the Class B Cashier funds and submits all cash count and accounting reports as required, provides cashier services in remote location on a weekly basis, and forecasts cash needs and requests adjustments to authorized funding levels. The cashier (Class B) performs daily accommodation exchange using funds from his own accountability of $90,000, ensuring that all transactions are valid and properly documented. The cashier (Class B) collects all accounts receivable and consular fees, providing required reports to the Accountable Officer and submits credit card deposit report to Beijing and Bangkok.

Qualifications and Evaluations

Education: Completion of a university degree in business administration, finance, accounting or statistics is required.

Requirements:

EXPERIENCE: Three (3) years performing progressively responsible work in financial management, accounting, banking or business management is required.

JOB KNOWLEDGE: Must possess good knowledge of serviced agencies’ requirements with regard to handling cash and must have knowledge of local banking practices and procedures.

Evaluations:

LANGUAGE: Level 4 (Fluent) Speaking/Reading/Writing in English is required. (This will be tested.) Level 4 (Fluent) Speaking/Reading/Writing in Chinese is required.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Must have computer skills including use of Excel and data entry and be able to quickly and accurately utilize a calculator for long sums.

  • Must have basic skills in operating a typewriter, understand and be able to perform cash accounting.

Qualifications: All applicants under consideration will be required to pass medical and security certifications.
