The Director reports to the VP of Asia Operations. The Director of Research and Development China Engineering is responsible for overseeing engineers in the field as it pertains to developing and implementing new products through adherence to established design control processes and good engineering and documentation practices.

Research and Development China Engineering is responsible for managing vendors and working with our U.S. engineering team in developing and implementing new products through adherence to established design control processes and good engineering and documentation practices.

Accountabilities

Work with vendors and our in house engineers to execute engineering design, analysis and testing and to execute product development deliverables on time per timeline from concept to product commercialization.

• Lead a team of engineers in China to perform engineering assignments requiring the development of new or improved product, systems and processes as a technical individual contributor and project team lead. Expected to result in the development of new or improved products on time in accordance to timeline.
• Develop, modify, implement, and support development of products through adherence to established design control processes and good engineering practices. With the team and vendors, solve technical problems using engineering and statistical techniques. Interfaces with our in house team based in Carson California.
• Provides engineering and technical support to production with respect to product specifications and requirements. Guides the successful completion of major programs or projects.
• Team Work: Play a technical role on the project team. The incumbent will work closely with The VP of Asia, China. Carson engineers and manufacturing regarding New Product Development. The position requires a team-oriented individual with strong interpersonal skills.
• Efficiency: Experienced in managing projects with tight timelines and budgets. Self-driven and always look for more efficient and effective ways of achieving results.

What is expected of you for success in your role

• Demonstrate ability to perform engineering tasks to support product design and development
• Demonstrate good knowledge of Engineering principles and its application in solving complex problems
• Work collaboratively with teams (technical teams and cross-functional teams) to successfully develop new products in a specified time-line
• Capable of leading the China team and communicate effectively with vendors on achieving new products on time.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Plastics, Electronics, Biomedical) required
• A minimum of 7+ years related work experience or 3+ years with a MS or PhD
• Very good understanding of plastic part design, injection molding, extrusion, roto-molding, blow molding and manufacturing processes plus furniture manufacturing and process.
• Experience in the design of complex engineering grade plastic parts, mold design, and processing of engineering grade resins
• Fluent (read and write) in both Cantonese and Mandarin, and English.
