As a R&D Mechanical Engineer, ABB Drives is a pioneering technology leader, providing products and solutions to help our customers maximize productivity, safety and energy efficiency, with a focus on reducing impact on the environment.

You will contribute significantly to successful results projects in Drive Products Product Group/ Drives Business Line / Motion Business in Beijing/China country/NAS region. You will utilize your knowledge and skills in technology and/or product development to identify and implement innovative solutions.

- Responsible for creating and/or update mechanical design for frequency converter product development to meet technical requirements & cost, quality & reliability targets.
- Generate bill of materials, engineering drawings in 3D and 2D data.
- Work together with electronics design, process, manufacturing, test & verification engineers as well as mechanic tooling and part suppliers in new product development projects.
- Support internal and external customers in technical challenges.

- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Thermodynamics or similar field is preferred.
- 5+ years of work experience within mechanical design and/or relevant area, e.g. manufacturing/NPI/EMS.
- Experience in Structural Design of complex industrial products, including sheet metal, plastic, cooling system etc. parts.
- Experience of Thermal simulation and design, static analysis and model analysis.
- Understanding on electronics product DFM (design for manufacturing) and DFA (design for assembly), and automated manufacturing.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes including thermoplastic and thermal set molding, metal stamping, extrusion, die casting, packaging.
- Understanding on electronics production process and test is good to have.
- Knowledge of UL, IEC, NEMA, TUV, and environment standards is preferred.
- Work or study experience aboard or in an international company is an added advantage.
- Familiarity with rapid prototyping methods, fixture design / manufacturing experience is preferred.
- Process engineering experience and assembly line layout / line balance design is a plus.
- Understanding of statistical process evaluation / control (cpk etc) is an added advantage.
- Fluent in oral and written English and Chinese.
