RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Apply extensive scientific and technical experience and business acumen to establish strategies, drive effective and high-quality lab technical work and deliver well-controlled and characterized genetics laboratory testing

- Plan, carry out and supervise liquid biopsy and other molecular diagnostic assay development, optimization and validation trials under CLIA and CAP specifications

- Successfully transfer new assay panels and technologies to the clinical laboratory across a range of product categories

- Work closely with scientific, analytical, engineering, and commercial teams to develop, transfer, and sustain new products; interface with various departments and serve as internal consultant.

- Participate and present findings at conferences

- Publish scientifically relevant data in peer reviewed journals

- Participate in the development of patent applications, if applicable

- Independently and/or collaboratively conceive, initiate, and apply for the acceptance of new projects

REQUIREMENTS:
- PhD in Molecular Biology, Genetics or related field and 3+ years' experience in a clinical laboratory environment

- Extremely capable and significantly experienced (hands-on) assay developer with demonstrated success in advanced NGS assay development using multiple library preparation methods and sequencing platforms (experience with Illumina technologies required; experience with other platforms including Ion Torrent a plus).

- Experience working closely with bioinformatics functions including data analysis method and pipeline development

- Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with scientists in related disciplines, including multi-functional department projects and collaborations, with demonstrated success in achieving positive results with team members in non-biological disciplines

- Ability to translate department goals into executable plans, understanding and communicating technical risks, mitigations and alternative- Experience with oncology, prenatal, and/or infectious disease assay development preferred

- Excellent communication and teamwork skills

- Highly motivated, detailed individual with the proven ability to think innovatively toward solving problems effectively and efficiently
