Title: Business Manager or Working Group Coordinator (subject to experience)
Type of Contract: Three years (extension possible)
Opening: Immediate
Nationality: Open to all nationalities, preferably Chinese or EU citizenship
Overview
The main responsibility of the Business Manager/Working Group Coordinator is to coordinate/manage the following Working Groups of the European Chamber:
- Aviation & Aerospace
- Energy
- Carbon Market
Working Groups are composed of individuals from the corporate sector representing their specific industries and share common interests in the policy/business environment.
Tasks
Organise working group meetings
· Organise date, venue, agenda, documents, and invitation and participation lists
· Take meeting minutes and ensure smooth coordination with the Chairperson of the WG, members, speakers and other invitees (i.e. government officials)
Draft the annual Position Paper
· Responsible for drafting the content of the Position Papers of his/her WGs in coordination with the WG Chairperson and member companies within the agreed deadline.
Coordinate Communication with Key Stakeholders
· Draft an annual advocacy action plan, identify Chinese and European authorities to present the Position Paper
· Liaise with WG members and other stakeholders to identify the challenges of the industry in China and develop an advocacy strategy together with the WG
· Develop and maintain close relations with relevant government agencies
- Coordinate the working group’s advocacy activities, e.g. participation in public consultations for draft laws and regulations
· Identify topics for events, seminars, WG meetings and organise them according to the needs of the WG
Policy Research
· Develop a comprehensive understanding of the regulatory environment of the relevant industries, identify best regulatory practices in Europe and other countries.
· Conduct research on specific topics/regulations
· Draft WG/industry presentation material (including background info, industrial analysis, key recommendations etc.)
· Track the reform of the regulatory environment, identify new effective and draft laws and regulations in China on national and local level
Other tasks include
· Attract new members for the WG and the European Chamber, encourage participation of members in Working Group activities
· Contribute to the Chamber’s magazine EuroBiz
· Provide input for press releases
· Maintain contents of the Chamber’s webpage related to the WG
· Compile WG annual reports
· Identify topics for events in coordination with Marketing & Events team
Skills & experience
- University degree (bachelor or above) in related field (economics, political science, communications, engineering …)
- minimum two years working experience, preferably in government affairs, corporate communications or similar.
- interest in the relevant industries Aviation & Aerospace, Energy and Carbon Market
- Good understanding of the Chinese and European commercial and political environment
- Self-motivated, able to work independently
- Outstanding verbal and written communicator
- Strong planning and organisation skills
- Business-fluent English is a must, Chinese and other European languages are a plus
- Professional appearance and demeanor

It is a members-driven, non-profit, fee-based organisation with a core structure of 25 working groups representing European business in China. The European Chamber is recognised by the European Commission and the Chinese authorities as the official voice of European business in China.
