Summary: The U.S. Mission in Guangzhou is seeking one eligible and qualified applicant for the position of Electrician within the Facilities Management Office.

The work schedule for this position is: Full Time (40 hours per week)

Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.

Supervisory Position: No

Duties: The incumbent performs a combination of journeyman level Electrical work and semi-skilled tasks in the maintenance and repair of buildings and equipment. Journeyman level Electrical work includes but is not limited to the design, fabrication, ins

tallation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of all installed electrical equipment and circuits in the USG occupied buildings. Troubleshooting and repair of small electrical appliances, power tools, and other tasks as directed.

Qualifications and Evaluations

Education: Completion of secondary school is required. Completion of vocational training or apprenticeship recognized as producing a highly skilled and trained journeyman Electrician is required.

Requirements:

EXPERIENCE: Minimum Two (2) years of work experience as a journeyman Electrician, plus some semi-skilled experience in the other trades.

JOB KNOWLEDGE: Must possess full journeyman knowledge of established practices and procedures involved in the electrical field. Must possess a general knowledge in the following trades: HVAC, Plumbing, Painting, and Carpentry.

Evaluations:

LANGUAGE: Level II (Limited Knowledge) Speaking/Reading/Writing Chinese is required. Level I (Rudimentary Knowledge) Speaking/Reading/Writing English is required.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Must possess a strong working knowledge of the electrical field, and have the ability to design and work off of schematics or blueprints, and to familiarize him/herself with the electrical panels and circuits in all USG leased buildings. Must possess the knowledge of where to locally purchase the parts and supplies necessary to complete projects. Must possess a working knowledge and the ability to perform repairs and maintenance in the other trades as required.

Qualifications: All applicants under consideration will be required to pass medical and security certifications.
