Business Unit: Elsevier Science &Technology
Department: Academic & Government Sales (A&G Sales)
Report to:Regional Sales Manager, A&G Sales China/HK
Job Purpose:
This job requires a strong individual who can achieve sales targets set within academic and government sectors in China for our print journal and online products. The person has to also strengthen customer relationships with existing accounts. He/she has to have strong drive to excel and to think strategically about overall business development within Chinese market.
Main Activities and Responsibilities:
Account management
1) Maintaining good relationship with current customers and explore new opportunity in up-selling.
2) Responsible for meeting regional and individual sales targets on account level as well as regional sales goals.
3) Gather, monitor and evaluate competitive information.
4) Regular report on sales activities and account information
5) Implement structured Sales planning for key accounts
6) Onsite problem solving
Sales & Marketing Coordination
1) Collaborate and communicate with Account Development Manager and Product Sales Manager to deploy actions to ensure and enhance value customers.
Internal Communication
1) Initiate discussion with other regional offices where customer needs have to be met
2) Engage conversation with customers' executive Management where necessary to articulate the local market situation
Key Competencies:
1) Must be fluent in both Chinese and English.
2) Strong negotiation skills.
3) Able to do high-impact presentation, good knowledge of MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint.
4) Master degree in any discipline with bachelor/master.
5) At least 5 years' of working experience in B to B (public sector) sales or marketing, preferably from information industry.
6) Research background will be a plus.
7) Frequent travel is required.
