Journal Publisher Civil Engineering
You are a strategic thinker, enthusiastic about developing the future direction of a collection of market leading journals in the field of civil engineering, in response to author, reviewer and end-user needs. You are a people-oriented networker willing to travel 6-8 weeks a year. You have a strong interest in the future of learned journals and opportunities provided by internet, social media and STM (Scientific, Technical, Medical) publishing market developments.
We offer the successful candidate an opportunity to lead and shape the innovation of scientific communication in a variety of civil engineering sub-disciplines. As Publisher you will be responsible for delivering the strategy, business plans and objectives for the maintenance, development and growth of a collection of civil engineering journals, working within the overall STM journals business.
The role can be based at Elsevier's offices in Oxford, UK, Beijing, China, or New York City, USA, reporting to the Publishing Director, Engineering. Please note the right to work in any of the above locations is considered a condition of application.
Key Result Areas
? Development of strategy and business plans in response to market needs
? Networking with individuals, institutions, societies and other key stakeholders
? Acquisition of new content
? Journal and portfolio day-to-day management to meet agreed budgets and targets
? Launch of new products and services addressing market requirements
Candidate profile
? Energy, drive and results orientation
? Planning, organisation and task prioritisation
? Ability to take the initiative and demonstrate creativity
? Strategic and commercial skills
? Networking and relationship building
? Negotiation and communication skills
Education and experience:
? University degree BSc/MSc/PhD in a (relevant) scientific/engineering field
? Publishing experience or other relevant commercial experience
