Summary description
The Greater China region is one of the most important markets in the world, and a key focus for Inframation News. The rising volume of Chinese outbound investments is driving a growing need locally for knowledge on overseas markets, in addition to demand for onshore policy, company and project news from international investors. The role will involve translating into Chinese the exclusive and original scoops which make our coverage market leading. The right candidate will also have reporting and interviewing skills and the ability to write in English for an international audience.

Main duties

• Translating a handful of Inframation reports and headlines into Chinese for local readers monthly.
• Helping set up a presence on WeChat and posting updates in consultation with the editor.
• Checking stock exchange statements and local media reports daily for relevant news to flag to the editor and follow up for English language coverage in Inframation.
• Building a network of sources to write original and exclusive content to drive our coverage and ensure it is market leading.
• Assisting the Senior Reporter, Greater China, on onshore coverage

This will involve

• Translating at least six regular news reports and one feature into Chinese every month.
• Writing at least one story a day in English on infrastructure or energy on the mainland, Hong Kong or Taiwan
• Working closely with Inframation News reporters around the world to ensure exclusive and full coverage of cross-border situations.
• Working closely with research teams to ensure Inframation Deals is tracking early-stage transactions and milestone developments, as well as scanning official documents and websites.
• Making regular suggestions to the Inframation Asia Pacific editor and deputy editor on potential analyses, comment articles and asset and person profiles for the title.
