Overview
MST is a global technical program management team that liaises between media teams and the MSN Engineering. Its role is to help achieve the primary goals of MSN through working with assigned markets and partnering, collaborating & influencing Feature Teams (FTs). Using MSN’s strategy as a base, guide and influence Media teams with assets of the MSN Engineering and at the same time, provides a deep understanding of business needs/pain points in market to Engineers within FTs / GMD.
Key Responsibilities
- Understand MSN’s strategy and evangelize to the media team
- Work with Media teams to drive and support execution of MSN Strategy (Engineering Services/Products/Features)
o Help drive Windows, OSD and MSN initiatives - Execution of Services/products/Features
o Ability to work with local Executive Producer (EP) and sits on their Leadership team
o Understand, influence and support their business plans at local markets.
o Help attach MSN Engineering Services/Products/Features to business needs
Work with MSN Engineering to support development of great Services/Products/Features
o Help drive MSN Engineering initiatives - Delivery of products/Features
o Work with local Media team to submit and to feedback on Products / Feature requirements
o Provide local Media inputs and awareness to MSN Engineering at the right time
Provide support and manage situation in case of emergency

Program Management
- Ensure effective local project management of solution recommendations, whether those recommendations are instructions or working prototypes
- Use market, technology and data driven knowledge to contribute to the creation of new value propositions for customers.
- Incorporate security, performance, and reliability in designs for major product and subsystems appropriately.
- Document requirements for features, product requests, or technical specifications.
- Track and communicate feature requirements and priorities as part of a roadmap, backlog, or project plan.
- Communicate to relevant parties the status of high-impact features and other significant issues.
- Provide and respond to feedback from managers, peers, subordinates and customers.
- Comply with published teams’ policies as exist and apply
- Develop effective customer/partner feedback loops, listen to feedback, understand its implications, and translate feedback into better features and products.
- Autonomous and able to deal with ambiguity
Experience and qualifications
- 5 to 7 years of experience in the online industry.
- IT or business related BA/BSc degree or equivalent.
- Comprehensive understanding and practice of
o Project management methodologies (Professional accreditation in Project Management -PMP- an advantage)
o Agile-based software development methodologies
- Several years of recent experience managing a range of online consumer facing projects, preferably a recognised market leading portal.
- Management of multiple complex projects with tight deadlines.
Technical/Functional Skills
- Strong experience of the technologies and infrastructures technologies (networking protocols, web/application servers and databases, Search and Search Engine Optimization) that underpin online consumer services.
- Experience implementing and troubleshooting feed formats such as XML, and knowledge of common web programming languages such as JavaScript, HTML.
- Regularly use and has interest in latest web-based services in multiple platforms such as PCs, Tablets and Smartphones.
- Experience with localization (or internationalization) of products
Special Requirements/Additional Information
- English and local market language required. Additional languages a plus
- Experience of working in an international environment with remote teams.
- Experience of international culture & travel.
- Commit to Microsoft’s business values.
- Extended hours availability may be required depending on the project / service and subject to local laws.
- Perform other such duties as are from time to time assigned.

- Feature Teams (FTs): Feature Teams are part of the MSN Engineering organization and are in charge of developing Features and Products for MSN. Examples are Video and Entertainment Feature Team and Global Entry Points Feature Team
- Global Market Delivery (GMD) Team: development team part of the MSN Engineering organization located in London, Tokyo and Dublin in charge of delivering products and features to International Media Teams
- Media team: the media team is in charge of creating the local MSN offering for users and advertisers. The offering is built by combining content (photos, text, videos, social content) from partnerships and technology from MSN Engineering. The Executive Producer (EP) is leading the media team in a specific market or geography
- Online Service Division (OSD): Online Services Division develops and markets information and content designed to help people simplify tasks and make more informed decisions online, and that help advertisers connect with audiences. OSD offerings include Bing, MSN, adCenter, and advertiser tools. Bing and MSN generate revenue through the sale of search and display advertising, accounting for nearly all of OSD’s annual revenue.
