STCA was founded in year 2005 and is now starting the second “Five-Year Plan” after the merge with the Ads Platform Center in 2011. The new team has not only built up its strengths and expanded its scope, but also set a shared goal, broadened its vision, and equipped with richer resources that gives the team the confidence to scale new heights.
STCA is now focusing on the following areas: the continuous exploration of Bing search technology; the technical innovation of online advertisement services; the development of the MSN social platform; and the development of mobile search applications. Today, STCA has hundreds of excellent employees and is the largest R&D team of the Microsoft Online Service Division outside the United States.

As part of the Microsoft Bing team, the Search Technology Center Asia (STCA) in Beijing is working to deliver innovative Internet search products and services to the China, Japan, Korea and global Internet markets. Our combination of global scale, local focus, and an integrated partnership with the world-class Microsoft Research Asia gives us a unique capacity to deliver truly useful services for users in this exciting market and to bring the great ideas from China to the world.
We are looking for motivated and talented individuals at various career stages of their careers including Software Development Engineer I, Software Development Engineer II, and Software Development Lead. We build variant mobile search products for launching Windows Phone on Nokia smart phone in China market.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Work at the mobile search product we build.
- This is where the fun begins for code gurus like you. As a hands-on Software Development Engineer II, you'll make decisions about design and feature implementation, using your mastery of technical tools to make a product vision a reality. If you like to write code and design efficient data structures and algorithms to develop next-generation mobile search services, this is the position for you. As an SDE II, you'll bring products to life by working with Program Managers to ensure strong design and Software Development Engineers in Test to ensure quality through testing. Ultimately for the SDE II, it's your code that turns concepts into new technologies and services
Requirements:
- Pursuing a BS/MS or PhD degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related field
- 3+ years of experience programming in C/C++/C#, Java and/or other computer programming languages preferred
- Ability to derive creative and innovative solutions by thinking "outside the box"
- Expertise in feature definition, design, and feasibility
- Demonstrated skill in estimating development time
